View Full Version : If you were a chicken...
If you were a chicken do you think you would mind laying eggs on my old shredded creditcard bills instead of straw or hay?
If I were a chicken....I'd be more concerned with why the hell I had become a chicken! ;)
Only thing is that the paper will hold water more I think, of it it gets wet it will either stay wet or dry very hard!

They might piece together the bills and you'll find out they've ordered a larger coop.

no probably not, be more worried about you eating their babies ;)
If i were a chicken... id be more scared of the rabbits than what im laying eggs on.
Chickens are so stupid, they dont know what theyre sitting on.

If I was a chicken, I'd cross the road. Watching out for speeding police cars!!
(oops - lowered the tone again).

Damn you beat me to it. Except for the police cars bit.
If I were a chicken, I'd pray for guts:D or that the fox didn't catch me, then there really would be guts:smt064
Providing its in some sort of enclosure and up off of the deck i cant see it being a problem and they should'nt be making mess in the nest appart from the odd broken egg.

they both sleep in the nest box and so it gets rather messy
Do they have a perch for roosting they should be sleeping perched on one leg a few feet off the ground stops them getting covered in all sorts of nasties, I've never had one choose to sleep in a box over sleeping up aheight? obviously they are chickens so are lacking in the inteligence department lol

they have bars to roost on but seem to prefer the nest box. it's a bit of a squash for both of them in the nest box so one half sits on the other one, they both seem happy enough though.
Best to just try them on it then see how quickly it gets messy we line the bottom of our parrot cages with newspaper as the ink used for the print has anti bacterial/fungal qualities so it actually helps alot with hygene over using wood shavings etc

i've put some shredded paper in there now. i'll see how it goes...
