I've got d208 rr 's on which feel nice, not sure about wear though. Can't really comment too knowledgeably though as these are the only tyres I've tried other than standard.
It's well thought on here that avon storms inspire a lot of confidence on the SV, I'm going to try those next. Heard the pilots are good too though.

That said I've just had a quick google of the RR's I have fitted and apparently they're okay for road use and wobbly trackdays but if your a wannabe rossi then they might let go with no warning. Meh I'm not an extreme rider at all.
Your welcome try searching avon storm on this site for people's opinions. They are highly recommended.

I'm a fairly new rider (passed June 07) so I've only ever used the pilot road 2s that came with my bike and have nothing to compare them against, but they've never caused me concern. Aparently the Avon storms are just as good, cheaper, and Avon have a replacement policy if you get a puncture in the first X miles, not sure what X is though.

Avons.
After looking at a few reviews and taking in alot of people opinions and experiences I went for the BT021, I have done about 500 miles on them and I'm just not sure on them right now.
Depends on how you ride really, there seems to be plenty of grip for bimbling, but not alot of lean angle in them, I have done the odd reasonable paced ride (but not fast by any means) and there is nothing left chicken strip wise on the edge of the tyre, they have not been riden anywhere near as hard as previous tyres......I like to have a few mm of comfort zone so I know I'm not going to fall off the edge, but on these there is nothing which worries me.
The outer edge compound seems very soft aswell, as in melting on a cold day after a road ride!
I dont think they would be any good on the track either at much above slow for the above reasons.
I'll reserve full judgement until a hotter day where I actually have a quick ride, at the moment I would not recommend them and I'm hoping they dont last as long as people say they do.
I think I will be going for super corsa III next or something else abit more sport orientated.
I fitted Pilot 2's last week to replace the Standard D220's. Have to say that I'm finding them brilliant. Bike seems really keen to lean into corners with them on and they're really confidence inspiring. Also seem to be pretty grippy in the wet. Can't comment on wear as I've only done 250 miles so far. Hope this helps

Pick a set, try them, stick with them if you like them or if you don't move onto a different set.
Just because x amount of people say one is better then the other doesn't mean that will be the same experience for yourself. You will only know when you've tried them for yourself. :D

Dont like the pr2's personally, great when new but the profile goes horrible very quickly, fitted alot at work when they came out, but now every bike that comes back in after a few k miles, they have got a nasty profile where they wear on the leading edges (like bt010's used to) and generally feel odd to ride, plenty of tread but feel horrid due to shape when worn, most things leave with dragons fitted either road or corsa 3's and dont have any trouble

Aye but are you comparing a 8K PR2 to a 3K Corsa III? My PR2's lasted ages with no real issues on wear. 8K on the current rear, yes its flattened off but not like a sportier tyre would. A Corsa III might not even make 3K with the riding I do (lots of bypasses :().
I guess if you fit them you know what your talking about though so Who am I to argue :p

That's interesting Rob. I've got PR2s on the Duke. Used to put them on the Sv before, and they did wear oddly. Put it down to being two-up and not having the suspension set right.
I've gone for them again because I don't like not having any wear indicators on the middle of the tyre and I've been caught out before by Diablos that go illegal very quickly.
But a guy who works at Bikers World in Daventry and who's got lots of experience with my style of Duke said that the Michelins are the best profile for it.
Any thoughts?

Id just wait and see how they turn out mate. :) I know my Dads R1100RS used to make the front go \/ but on his 955i he is fine. Ive never had a problem with them at all. So I guess it must be down to how the bike works. Maybe the Duc pushes the front less, I think my Ape pushes the front less than the SV.
Shrug.

Depends whether you just want them legal or to ride nice aswell, have taken a few off now that havent made 3k
And if its mileage then roadtecs or strada's over the dragons.

Of course I'm going to keep them. Can't afford to throw away 220 quids worth of rubber, but for the next new set, I may well reconsider much as I love the PR2s.

Can't speak for myself, but my Dad has PR2 on his Tiger 1050, IIRC he's done about 2000-3000 on them, (at least 800 of them have been with me following :D) and about 800 with me on the back as Pillion. He does a bit of scratching, very occasional commuting but he/we try to avoid motorways. It's not squaring off, and the profile still looks pretty good. What's more, the tread pattern is win! :D
Alot depends on how well you keep an eye on your tyre pressures and the like. (Not saying you guys don't, save the spears :D)

Just to throw a spanner in the works, Metzeller Z6's are still very good. There is a new version out, so old stock cost is reduced. I've just put another set on, never had a problem with them, loads of miles, loads of wet grip.

Ill be replacing my tyres in the next 500 miles, might do it to celebrate the biking going past 25K miles. PR2ct back and PP2ct front ill go for :)

Pete you run 180 or 190?
petevtwin650

180/55 mate.
Doesn't really need a 190. Rumour has it Ducati just fitted it because all the other big bikes were running them.

Aye, tbh most bikes from what I hear run better on a 180 anyway...

Given that the 748 which is exactly the same chassis and engine block runs very well on 180 rear I think you could be right.

Has it got a 6" rim though? Normally its only the 1000's that have them, smaller usually run 5.5". Might not though. ha ha
