View Full Version : adjusting the upper fairing (pointy)

Hi guys i have bit of a stupid question. a while back i had to get my suzuki dealer to adjust the headlight assembly on my sv650s k7 and they had to mess around with the front fairing - and then they obviously havent put it back together correctly. i only noticed this today as i was cleaning it. the underside plastic bit of the front fairing is not meeting cleanly with the main fairing because one of the clips on the plastic underside is still on the outside of the main fairing - if that makes any sense.... which it probably doesnt, so here's a picture:

I know its all plastic so theres probably a bit of flex but i think if i tried to bend it to get it back in something would break. so my question is - is it an easy task to loosen the front fairing enough to get that underside clip back in? i dont really want to take it back to the dealer as its a bit of a trek. and normally i wouldnt even bother with something so minor but i'm selling the bike and i have a potential buyer, who obviously doesnt know about this and might not even notice or care, but theyre coming half-way across the country and i know if it was me i'd be a bit annoyed so i'd like to fix it.

You should be able to remove the 4 screws holding on the black plastic undertray thing and then flex it back into place - worked OK on mine.

Ironically you don't even have to remove the fairing to adjust the headlight aim.

thanks guys, i figured it'd be something like that. i've actually sold the bike now, i didnt get around to fixing it but i pointed it out to the buyer anyway, he didnt seem to care.

i should probably change my sig.

your dealer left it like that? its quite a hard bit of plastic to put back as it dont flex much, you wouldnt think a main dealer would leave it like that.

yeah it is a minor thing but i wasnt overly impressed. i dont really want to name names... but all things considered if i wanted another new suzuki, in my area, i'd probably go back to them.
