Wiltshire Bike Safe

Hi all,

Me and a mate are looking to going on the 10 May course (9 till 4'ish). I don't have much detail other than what can be gleaned from their website (http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Bikesafe/Bikesafe2000/england/wiltshire/wiltshirepolice.html). I'm emailing them today for further info. Anyone interested in meeting up? :smt102

Myself and Baldyman did it last year, was pretty good......even though i binned my bike a couple of months later #-o
The bloke who runs it (Colin) is a top bloke, and the old bill will actually turn a blind eye on the day to race cans, mini number plates and dark visors, not that i had all 3 mind :-dd

I did this last year and live in South Gloucestershire. Fire Colin an email and explani, he wasn't bothered. IIRC his view was that if it stopped a visitor to their nice roads crashing then it was worthwhile.

i'll be there around 1 - gonna take the kids along to do the honda stuff again if they get the chance - look for the guy being harassed and telling off a 9 + 11 year old - and maybe with a grumpy long haired teenager looking miserable if i drag him along !

haha. well, i think i may go to the event again tomorrow. i went today, but missed all the action. + i wanna see who wins that R1! :) they said the draw will be in the afternoon sometime

Afternoon all, spoke to Colin and 10 May is fully booked. The 7 June has vacancies he says, but these are going fast; I can't do that one. The next one after that is July which he has provisionally put me + 2 (mates) down for. His PC is down at the mo so email might be hit and miss. Call him if you want to book is my advice. Nice fella BTW.

Did this the other day, learned a lot and would definitely recommend it (you really can't complain for the price)

As others have said, Colin really is a nice guy, and you can tell that he really does care about safety on the roads.

Bit strange constantly seeing a police bike in your mirrors during the observed ride!

The police that were there seemed pretty relaxed about speed, though for obvious reasons could not actually come out and say "It's ok to exceed the limit"

I don't suppose this Colin you're talking about also does tests for licences? Is he a biggish bloke? xD Could be the guy who passed me :D
