*hope this is the right section*

As you guys probably know the curvy Sv's up to like 2001 had two covers on the clutch, the main one and then the secondary one that is the bit that sticks out.

Well on my 2000 model, the bit that sticks out is weeping oil. Not enough to drip anywhere or anything, but enough for it to be clearly visible when wiped with a tissue. It seems to coming from the 4-6 position. Oil level doesn't seem to drop noticeably or anything, but am keeping an eye on it.

It's going in to Probike (local 'zuki dealer) on Wednesday (23rd) to be fixed, I'm guessing a new o-ring/gasket and suzuiki/silicone sealant, but I've read that the 2002 model has a one piece cover, the same as the one on the Pointy SV's, but in black (so it'd match the rest of the engine, as pointys are silver and wouldn't match?)

I know that a couple of the threads on two of the bolts (one on each cover, actually!) have gone and can't be fully tightened, although they aren't 'loose' and don't vibrate out or anything. I think they're tight enough to hold, but I'll get them to helicoil them while they're at it.. :hackedoff: Could that be a possible reason as to why they're leaking?

I'm aware that the cover is somewhat of a known issue as I've found other people with the same issue across the interweb.

I've also read that replacing it with a cover from a later SV (I.e the one piece cover from a 2002 onwards) would stop the issue from coming back on a permanent basis.

Would I be able to fit the cover from a 2002 without any other modifications?

Cheers,
Jay

Don't bother, they'll charge you for the O ring and it will still leak. Use a smear of bathroom silicon. Guaranteed to cost you less for a whole tube than rolling it onto the dealers yard...

If it does leak again then surely I can take it back as the problem it went in for was not fixed?

I mean, either way, I don't have a helicoil kit and I don't know how to use one, and can't buy one so I'll need them to at least fix that, but I know the guys there and they're pretty good to me.

An oil and filter change I could do myself, again but then it's a stamp in an empty service book, and apart from this small annoyance it's a very tidy bike mechanical wise. Besides I don't have an oil tray and a bike is my only form is my only form of transport I can't really dispose of it properly, even if I did. :)

As for this sealant, do I take the cover off and apply on the connecting edge or do I simply put it around the cover like on the bath? :D

I'll also get the garage to put sealant on the bolts on the cover just in case..

Had another look and it it actually APPEARS to be the bottom bolt on the main cover that's leaking the majority, if not all of the oil. It seems to be coming out of the threads!!?

Either way.. I'll have to just live with it until Wednesday and then have them "fix it", check gaskets and helicoil, and then silicone sealant my way around everything as well...
