Yes I've caught the bug and I now have a clean-ish downpipe. All that I used was 3 quarters of a tube of autosol and a couple of green scouring pads. Inspiration to clean it come from Kwak and DizzyB, it looks like I got alot more to do. :D
I'll see if I can keep it clean now. :D
I take it you haven't got a girlfriend :smt003
Only joking mate, looks nice and shiny. You have more patience than I..

Not worth the effort. I spent ages cleaning mine, then after a few rides it was brown again.

worth the pain of skimmed skin on the fingers. If you do it right, and polish it every time you wash your bike, it stays like that.
Gah some people are soooooo lazy:rolleyes::D
Segggons well done. Thats actually better than mine.....for now!!!;)

Polishing rather riding Smeghead?
You must be saving your money and tyre for NW5.
Be nice if it could stay looking like that all weekend

Nice effort with the polishing though! I had an attempt the other weekend and got very bored within five minutes!

Nice but only really worth it if you're going to sell it, and not use it in the selling period.

Do what to your bike?!

It's going to be an expensive couple of months with the Applecross Double Dash and GM2 so every penny counts at the mo. :D
I have a distinct feeling it will be covered by the time I get to Wales, just means I get to endure the fun all over again. :)
Looks good smeggy... what did you use?

Im Indoors has been given hope. I told him that you ride your bike rather than polishing it, and your downpipe was pretty minging......
....well I have to give him some hope that his Raptor pipes will shine again! Hes been trying to get it shine for days, and it ain't happening :-(

I'm going to save the last quater of the tube for GM2. Each night I can sneek out and polish up the downpipe bit by bit and then blame it on the midges. :D
Like the new nickname Smeggy too

I have about an inch left in my tube of Autosol , I have had that tube for 6 years , it might be the first tube I actually get to empty by hand ...... all other tubes were emptied in the following manner :
Put a "Pea" sized blob on a rag
Polish various parts of bike
Buff to a nice smear free finish
Stand back to admire work
Feel something going soft under my heel
Turn around to witness 25 yards of Solvol Autosol "Squiggled" all up the driveway
DAMNIT!!!!!

Did that myself last year. Put top on tube, sat it next to front wheel, went for a brew.
Came back, moved the bike. Allllll over the front tyre, and the patio, up the ramp into the shed. And the lid stayed on:(
