the plan is if the weather is like it was on sunday then it will be another cancellation. good news is i have waterproofs now :-) but wind and rain is no fun although truth be told i had a nice we scoot aboot yesterday as it dried up and was sunny but very windy.

ok i'm going to do something out the norm, i'm going to give you all a choice.

I'd vote for hug the border... waiting to find out if I have a prior engagement tho. Hope to god it's dry and not windy (or even just not windy!) this weekend!

I vote for the Tummel run. Lived in Pitlochry for 3 years and love it up that way. Plus I'll get a nice pic of the bike at Queens View :D

Keep an eye out then - be a good reason to bring the bike out and let us all hear the new can!

Might not do your morning after headache any good though!

Also could be tempted if you do the Hug the Border run, might even be tempted to come and meet up at Broughton, taking in the Beeftub twice...

Typical! You come to the Borders and I'm working! Though, my bike might not even be built up by then...

ok so far we have

Tummel:
1 definite.

Borders:
2 maybes.
1 maybe hung over meet up.

Artful
25-05-11, 01:59 PM
Although I would have preferred the Tummel one, I would probably still go the other route.

What are the distances of the 2 routes as Im having google maps issues :( and what are the meeting/starting points?

The Guru
25-05-11, 02:08 PM
Tummel = 207 miles
Start/End McDonalds South Queensferry

Borders = 247 miles
Same start/end

Looking like another wet and wild weekend according to Metcheck

wouldn't read to much into that. it said at the start of last week that the weekend there was going to be sunny/nice.

my 2 fave hobbies are fly fishing and biking so i look at the weather a lot lol

DarrenSV650S

Should make this if the weathers nice and sv gets through it's MOT tomorrow :)

oh and I vote for the border one

Bibio
27-05-11, 12:31 AM
so we now have:

Tummel:
1 definite but will do either.

Borders:
2 maybes.
1 will if passes MOT
1 would but working and broken bike
1 maybe hung over meet up.

warning:
if we do the borders i WILL get us lost (i'm very very good at that) which is more fun:-)

as with all runs, make sure your bike is in good working order and you have a full tank of petrol before we set off. have enough money for more petrol and food/drinks etc.etc.

there will be a good few stops for chat and rests. the borders run will have 2 fuel stops 1 at Gretna 95 odd miles and 1 at Berwick-upon-tweed 177(82) odd miles. the Tummel run will have 1 fuel stop at Pitlochry roughly 115 miles.

and remember its a bimble not a race. if anyone feels that the pace is to slow then they are more than welcome to go and play then pull in and wait for the rest of the group to catch up.

Whats your feeling on this Bibster?

If you think it's a no go I'm going out to get pi55ed tonight...

Bibio

seems like the weather is going to be much like 2day and yesterday. so it's on. but i might cut the route down and instead of going over to Berwick we could head up the back road to the glen cafe at st marys.

i'll pop a route up later. i was out for an hour or so last night and it was fine.

What direction are you running it Bibio?

The service road is quite open so the wind can be quite bad on it at times.

I'm still undecided...

Bibio
28-05-11, 05:18 PM
s,queens, carnwath, moffat, gretna if not lockerbie then up threw the back roads to st marys on to selkirk unless i decide to take the bumpy fecked road over to peebles then up to penicuik then end at s,queens.

but as i said it will depend on the weather and how i feel. might just end up as a magical mystery tour.

Artful
29-05-11, 08:32 PM
Sorry you couldnt manage SIII and I hope yer wee girl is ok.

Well I must say I really enjoyed my first bimble but the weather turned it into a true Baptism of Fire ! That was some serious wind at times but I loved it. Lance was a star crawling along at my pace lol but my confidence grew all day.

Not sure of all the Towns we went through but Moffat and Pebbles were 2 of them.

Got to meet Fenjer as well when we dropped in for a coffee and she was kind enough to point out the chicken strips on my back tyre.

All in all a brilliant day and look forward to more (in better weather hopefully)

slight change for this week peoples. the run will be on the Saturday 11th June.

i might have to go and do something in the afternoon till about 6pm and then do a run in the evening instead. if this happens then the run will start at the same place but at 6:30. if not then same run and usual start time.

this weeks run will be the Glen Clova Run:

hiheehoo peoples. looks like i wont be going down the workshop after all. sooooo its an afternoon run.

since there is 3 fifers and a what ever area Grangemouth is 'west lothinan?' shown interest then it might be better starting the run from Mcdonald's at the Dunfermline retail park (Odeon cinema).

if so than i have altered the route for a more interesting one:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Whimbrel+Pl&daddr=56.1246525,-3.4198892+to:56.2994439,-3.7774061+to:56.71515,-3.95347+to:Perth+Rd%2FA924+to:56.72171,-3.45358+to:B955+to:56.795448,-3.0355387+to:B955+to:56.66878,-3.00835+to:56.576436,-2.9955819+to:E+Shore%2FB9131&geocode=FTyvVwMd6ibM_w%3BFexkWAMdD9HL_ykdjQuIb82HS DHxwW3hGWgMEw%3BFbMPWwMdglzG_ymvzwrZFoOISDHBcYPcGW gMEw%3BFY5nYQMdwqzD_yl5VoEJt6-ISDER2IHcGWgMEw%3BFWwiYQMdnUDH_w%3BFS6BYQMddE3L_ym 9lDwYtA-GSDFA7P7hGWgMEw%3BFT4_YwMd-dPQ_w%3BFTihYgMdbq7R_ym1CXi7-HmGSDFRxFfcGWgMEw%3BFYFUYgMdbc3R_w%3BFWyyYAMdohjS_ ynDKOVncGWGSDHRU1ncGWgMEw%3BFbRJXwMdg0rS_ylv5Zi-MWaGSDERrVjcGWgMEw%3BFcbhWQMdydTW_w&hl=en&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=14&via=1,2,3,5,7,9,10&sll=56.085064,-3.412457&sspn=0.034625,0.110893&ie=UTF8&ll=56.419978,-3.298645&spn=1.098336,3.548584&z=9

if there is any more interest from further afield then i will stick to the original plan. or if they are coming from deepest darkest westie land then i could be tempted to make the meet point in Mcdonald's in Alloa.

hihehoo ecossers. i have spoke to Jen and she is doing other things. there has been no more interest from further afield so i looks like a fifer's day out.

anyone who's planning on coming but has not piped up then do so now.

as its looking like us fifers are the only ones then the meeting point will be Mcdonalds at Dunfermline retail park (Odeon cinema) between 10:00-11:00. or if Blue Flame wants i could give him a buzz (need your number though bud) when we are leaving KDY. if Blue Flame can't make it then there will be no meeting point

the route will be: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Whimbrel+Pl&daddr=56.1246525,-3.4198892+to:56.2994436,-3.7774053+to:56.71515,-3.95347+to:Perth+Rd%2FA924+to:56.72171,-3.45358+to:B955+to:56.7954479,-3.0355386+to:B955+to:56.66878,-3.00835+to:56.5764358,-2.9955816+to:E+Shore%2FB9131&geocode=FTyvVwMd6ibM_w%3BFexkWAMdD9HL_ykdjQuIb82HS DHxwW3hGWgMEw%3BFbMPWwMdg1zG_ymvzwrZFoOISDHBcYPcGW gMEw%3BFY5nYQMdwqzD_yl5VoEJt6-ISDER2IHcGWgMEw%3BFWwiYQMdnUDH_w%3BFS6BYQMddE3L_ym 9lDwYtA-GSDFA7P7hGWgMEw%3BFT4_YwMd-dPQ_w%3BFTehYgMdbq7R_ym1CXi7-HmGSDFRxFfcGWgMEw%3BFYFUYgMdbc3R_w%3BFWyyYAMdohjS_ ynDKOVncGWGSDHRU1ncGWgMEw%3BFbNJXwMdg0rS_ylv5Zi-MWaGSDERrVjcGWgMEw%3BFcbhWQMdydTW_w&hl=en&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=14&via=1,2,3,5,7,9,10&sll=56.085064,-3.412457&sspn=0.034625,0.110893&ie=UTF8&ll=56.375898,-3.427734&spn=1.099608,3.545837&z=9 with a petrol stop at Pitlochry and stops about every 30 odd miles (as my wrist is fecked).

sorry Jen i just couldn't resist....

can you fit a square peg in a round hole?

ok i'm taking the pizz, lol. what you might find is that the end you have measured is off one of the spigots, which will have expanded the rubber slightly. i may be wrong. what your best doing is cutting the old hose threw a section to see if the old one is 4mm. if its not then you will need 6mm. or you could dip then ends in boiling water then quickly push it on the spigots. it may or may not cause fuel starvation if the pipe can't keep up with the flow rate.

if i had time i would come and do it for you.
