Lance - really sorry to hear that (especially as I've only made it to one so far!). Hope it's nothing grim and that you'll still be out and about in a non-organising capacity.
don't worry its nothing grim :-)
Sorry to hear that mate - the 1.5 bimbles I've made it to so far were great.
to be honest with you all i have been thinking of stopping the runs for ages as i'm starting to find it stressful about the responsibility of minding a group. i know i sounds silly but if anything were to happen to someone on one of my runs i would not forgive myself. i might do a few next year but at the moment i'm stressed out enough without having the safty of others to contend with.
if someone wants to step up to the mark and take over then by all means do so, just because i'm not organising the bimbles it shouldent stop the rest of you getting together.
Am doing a bit of work this morning but might take a run over the Duke's Pass later on if anyone's interested?
Dear ecossers,
i have pretty much ironed out my problems. so starting from this Sunday 16/06/2013 the bimbles shall resume.
if you want to come along then meet place is at South Queensferry Mcdonalds at 09:30-10:30 unless otherwise stated.
it's not a race or a willy waving contest. it's about a nice day out in the company of others taking breaks around every 30 miles or so or if there happens to be a stunning view/something interesting we will be stopping.
if you have to be back coz mummy said to be home for a certain time then this is probably not for you as some of the runs will be well over 300 miles and 10+ hours. so look at the run for that day and decide if you want to come.
petrol - make sure you have a full tank at the start as i make the petrol stop distances from the start and are usually around 100-150 miles.
money - for petrol and i stop for coffee breaks, lunch and sometimes T depending on distances and time.
recovery - no i'm not fixing your bike so make sure that you have breakdown cover.
antisocial behaviour - its never happened but you never know. if it does you will be told to 0898 dooone.
group riding. you will be riding in a group so please be aware of others around you. if found not to be paying attention then you will be told to 0898 dooone.
i take no responsibility for your actions. if you crash its your own fault and in no way will i be held responsible for anything in part or in whole.

I'd have to bring a jerry can to get 150 miles. Should be up for this if the weather's nice, which it looks like it will be :)
*hurrah!*
Tho I probably wont join for full runs I might be able to pop along to the 'Ferry to say hiya.
:)
At BSB this Sunday but will defo catch you up for some over the summer!...
everyone is welcome to do part or whole or even just come along to the start for a gab.
for those that cant make 150 miles on a tank of petrol can you please say when i post the route up.
if you have a Garmin or TomTom spaznav then i suggest you get a program called TYRE http://www.tyretotravel.com/download-tyre/ you only need the free one. once installed you can copy and paste the route into the program and then send it to your spaznav. if you would like to know how to do this then PM me and i'll go threw it with you.
so without further ado here is the route for this Sunday 16/06/2013
http://goo.gl/maps/RAoAx
point 'I' is petrol and lunch. 118 miles
forecast is overcast/sunny with a few scattered showers.
I'm involved in stag celebrations on the Saturday, starting at 1pm. It'll be a miracle if I can restrain myself, but I'm going to try.
it's a stag doo your going to get drunk and i would suggest you recover on the sunday. don't risk loosing your licence.
No, I'd never get on the bike the day after. I enjoy it too much to risk the license. I'd rather ride than drink these days, although it's a stag and I should probably join in the fun. Definitely be along for the next one.

Yasss, looking forward to this!
The weather's not looking too good for this one, so far anyway.
yup i noticed. i don't trust the weatherman so i'll wait till saturday to cancel.
Me neither. Fingers crossed!
What's the feeling toward the bimble tomorrow?
Looks like rain all over Scotland tomorrow :(
i personally think its going to be like today with scattered showers. dont know what the rest of scotland was like today but here in KDY its been rather nice all day.
i'll see what its like when i get up then make a decision.
Been intermittant heavy showers down here. Just chance to think - Oh isn't that wee bit of sunshine nice - then woooof a massive downpour! Lovely.

Same here. Sunny then huge fat blobs of rain battering down
it's a pain in the azz living in KDY as it seems to have a micro climate all to itself. it can be lovely here but pizzing down in surrounding areas. good thing is though if its raining here then it's going to be pizzing down everywhere else. lol
worst rain tomorrow seems to be between 1pm and 4pm then drying up after 4pm.

22-06-13, 07:55 PM
It's been dry all day through here in sunny south Lanarkshire!
i'm going to give it a miss today as its pizzing down and windy which is no fun.
bit late in the day to say but i'm doing a run so if you want to tag along then you can meet me anywhere along the route. you will know my bike as it's a blue SV650 pointy with projector hids so just tag on to the back till the next stop.
Sunday 19th April 2015. i will be leaving the start point in Kirkcaldy about 10:00-10:30 so you can work it out from there.
Route:
http://goo.gl/maps/xVgJN
First Leg: stopping at Carron Dam
http://goo.gl/maps/JhsDl
Second Leg: stopping at Arrochar for a wee bite to eat or a cuppa. then fuel up.

I went to watch Celtic. Can't begin to tell you how much I'd rather have been out on the bike. More notice next time!
will do.
this week was a bit of a spur of the moment thing so yes i apologise for the very very short notice. i'm hoping its going to be business as usual in about a month.
thanks for the company Dave, cracking day out. was nice bumping into those reprobates from Motherwell again.
think i'm in love, MT-09 :-)
Some good deals on them

well i was going to post a run for this sunday but there are no longer and online mapping/route planners that can handle the size of route (thanks Gmaps).
the only other way i can do this is for everyone to install TYRE so i can send then a copy of the route.
or i can post up a meeting point and than you can play follow my leader on the day.

Perhaps try Strava ...you will have to sign up but it's free, the route planner is excellent and will do very long routes that can be exported to GPX.

What about the motogoloco site? It has mapping software and it can be exported in sat nav format?
Just say a meeting place/time and roughly which direction your heading in :)

Can you chuck me a link to the route in Google Maps Bibster? - I've got it 90% redrawn but I can't quite make out the little intricate bits around Northumberland... It'll take me all of 10 mins to finish it of though, and then folks have got SpazNav files should they like.
thats the problem, gmaps wont allow enough points to do the route as it stupidly also uses the turns as point as well now. i really do hate gmaps now. they took a superb rout planner and completely stuffed it.
i'll see if i can get the lower part of the route done in gmaps.
here you go. https://goo.gl/maps/hG2mT

Cheers old bean - have a quick check over this to make sure I've got it right:
https://www.motogoloco.com/map?route=8342&key=719fa3e9
If you're happy enough, I can make it Public (i.e. Findable on the search bar).
PS - I'm happy to re-draw these up anytime btw, it's quick enough for me to do with a cuppa and makes it look like I'm working at the same time (which I am, honest!)
thanks James. few alterations if you dont mind.
1. pull route down to first junction just after Melmerby.
2. pull route over from A7 North bound over to Newcastleton taking the back road out of Longtown.
14/06/15. North Pennines run.
Start, Fletchers Cafe in Selkirk for 10:30am. finish, Morrisons in Hawick. Route will be 200 miles.

Might even be a bit of video if I can keep up:)
you'll keep up no problem as i'll be going slow. checked my front tyre yesterday and its a bit feked, wish i had done it earlier in the week.
I'm sure you'll manage lol

Totally torn, I fancy a good long run but the start point is 90 miles away and my rear tyre ain't precisely new! But there again it looks dry, I did 300 miles week before last and it needs a new tyre anyways! Ahhh...
everyone that is going is around 75 miles to get there so whats an extra 15 miles between friends... lol
i dont think the pace is going to be that quick TBH.
cracking day out even though it was cold and wet. thanks guys and girls :-)
got home had something to eat then watched a bit of telly, went to bed and slept like a lump of lead.

Just to the south. Near the Benty bridge. Cheryl told me not to go but I did, I was not in her best books when we eventually got home.
burger thats part of my fave bit. is that just after the bridge going south through the twisty bit on the hillside?
littleoldman2
14-05-16, 09:54 PM
I think so. With a side road off to the left immediatly after the bridge as you go south. About a mile from my last buckled wheel.

In 50 minutes I will be finished a week of night shifts and if you think I'm doing anything today except sit in the sun outside The Bier Halle, working my way through the Belgians, then you are very much mistaken. :drink:
But the Bimbles are back, yay! Have fun. Next time baby. :riding:
bit more forewarning this time.. lol
weather is looking good for this sunday 29-05-16.
plan is: leccy brae run 244 miles
mcdonalds at south queens for 10:30ish (fill your petrol tank) then over the Edin by-pass then onto the A702 down to Abington Services for a break and petrol.
from Abington head down the service road and continue down the A702 (or skip the service road/A702 and do the Leadhills road?) to Thornhill then onto Moniaive and stop for a break at the cross shop.
from Moniaive head down to New Galloway then over the Queens to Newton Stewart and stop at the layby at the bottom of the Queens.
from Newton Stewart head up and over the hill to Girvan and stop in the harbour car park (i'll need a break after that road) leaving Girvan we stop for petrol at the Esso.
after petrol head over to the leccy brae hugging the coast road (watch out for speed cams on the A77).
after some jolly fun at the leccy brae we continue on the coast and turn off for Alloway then wind up to Cumnock - Muirkirk - Douglas - Carnwath - Newbridge and finish at Mcdonalds South Queens.
all welcome to tag along. if you would like the route for your spaznav then PM me your email and i'll send you it.
Lance
cancel the above.. it will be another time. i was doing that run as i thought someone was off on sunday but they are not and had never been to the brae, soooo i would rather do something else as i have been to the brae loads of times.
hhhmmmmm where is the question...
i'm thinking mega ride to the Lake District (Windermere) then over to Bellingham then up the A68 home..... bit of a long hall at 350 miles for most peeps though.
DarrenSV650S
25-05-16, 07:29 PM
Lake district is a bit far for me, but I'm moving back down to Dundee in 6 weeks so I might actually be able to join you on one of these :D
yey.. Daz back out on runs :-)
going to do lakes in reverse to what i was so now.
down the A68 to Bellingham then onto the lakes taking in Hartside then up the A7 to home.
