View Full Version : Bibio's Sunday Bimbles
will do, i'll put it on my gdrive for everyone. better than that popuptastic place i was using.
ill need to come along on one of these bimbles, but for me right now the lakes is probably a bit far out the way, only been riding 2 months :S
ill keep an eye out and come along when yer doing one that's a wee bit shorter :)
should be doing the leccy brae one at some point soon. hopefully there will be plenty runs this summer.
most of my runs are around the 250-300 mile mark with some being known to go near the 400+... lol
we take lots of breaks around every 30-40 miles. its a day out not a race. i usually get home on long runs like this for 9-10pm

Answering a question from about 6 posts ago, but when we do the Leccy Brae run I'd go for the Leadhills route. That'll be $0.02 please.
As for a long haul trip to the lakes (or anywhere) it's a big thumbs up from me! Can't make it this weekend as the next Mrs Tiger is dragging me to Catalonia - forecast 17 degrees, cloudy - but I need to do more miles, life is creeping up on me.
another jammy git :-)
i'm just jealous as i cant do it :-(
i was thinking the same about the leadhills
new route file (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByRytNfwWwSaaS1DMFRMeXR3Q1k/view?usp=sharing) this time not some geeky circuit board design like the last one.. sorry about that.
well the Lakes was ermm interesting. i have never met so many George & Mildred's in one day. the standard of driving was the worst i have ever seen.
i'm totally burst but it was worth it.

Lovely day out despite George & Mildred and the dense fog on the way home. Bring on the next BSB. BTW have you ridden this https://goo.gl/maps/Bc31K2dm3dR2 .
dont think i have LOM. will be a while till i'm down that way again, once a year is enough as it totally burst me, but i'm a fool for making a 380mile run the third out of the season.

shame missed you yesterday! How come you didnt get to have a go?
coz i is a short arzzz..lol
forgot to say that there was a 10mile tailback on the loch lomond road yesterday and as usual it was the posh car drivers hogging the white line and not moving over. when are they going to understand that if bikes dont filter then they will take up space which makes the tailback longer.
if they built a flyover at Balloch it would solve the issue.

Ive only been round the loch lomond twice, but each time, although it really is a nice road..., it was clogged and couldnt keep a pace.
Im going to stick with and accept the short excuse tho :)

If they built a ramp from that roundabout straight into the loch marked 'executives and rep-mobiles only', the world would be a better place.

Might pop along for a bit but not sure about MacDonalds South Queensferry. Its one lane southbound this weekend at the bridge.
cheers BF. goes to check...
looks like its just a contraflow on J3/2A for the KDY bypass turn off. wont be using that so no problem for me. https://www.forthroadbridge.org/news/weekend-roadworks-at-m90-j32a-southbound-19-22-august/
will be going past on the way up but both lanes open for northbound.

The recovery van didn't take too long to turn up, I was only half way through the stone roses album. It was a properly kitted out bike one too. It even had a camera in the back so I could keep an eye on my deflated bike.
It still takes a good photo even with a flat tyre :)

Hi Craigg, i'm usually out every sunday if the weather is good so gives a PM or keep an eye on this thread if you want to tag along. most runs are between 250-350 miles. if nobody shows interest then i dont start the run from South Queensferry and just go it alone.
bit disorganised start to my biking season this year but i'm now all sorted :-)
all welcome. if your new and want to come along then please read through this thread and find the rules.
you dont have to do the whole route but i would ask you to please let me know before hand and dont just disappear as i worry, especially newly passed riders.

Looking forward to it:D. If she's good I might bring the better half.
Might be looking at joining you at Saughtree, top end of KielderB6357 and ride to Moffat / Biggar. Maybe even a run down to Tower Knowe (Service in café is abysmal!!!)
What time will you be at Tower Knowe ? approx., I know you can't be exact, but approx.?

having never ridden in a group before, it goes like this:
you have a leader which can change through the day.
you have a TEC (Tail End Charlie) who is usually the slowest rider.
you have the pack of other riders.
leader keeps their eyes on their mirrors and if looses sight of the person behind will stop and mark at a junction. if there is a person behind they will continue and let the person behind take over marking the junction, this goes down the pack until there is someone in the pack who knows there is a TEC and they are not in their mirror who will then sit and mark the junction until the TEC arrives at which point the marker will continue on.
basically if your not TEC and you cant see anybody else in your mirrors when approaching a junction you sit and wait at that junction for TEC to show up and letting all other riders continue unless another rider takes over marking the junction.
we only do this if there is someone who does not know where they are going or people are unsure of a certain junction at which point we will only mark that/those junctions. most of the time its the leader who will mark junctions.
with the leader being the fastest rider and they have marked a junction they will want to get a boogie on to get back up to the front, please let them pass safely to do so, so keep an eye on your mirrors.
give people space at all times, dont be an **** and try to show off, we have seen it all trust me. keep an eye on your mirrors, this helps stop you getting speeding tickets ;)
be aware of everyone else in the group, dont ride like your in a bubble. your riding in a group and your responsible for your actions. we look out for each other.
very rarely we will play hopscotch which lets everyone have a go at being leader.
if your a freshly passed rider sometimes you will be waved in front of another more experienced rider, if asked to do so just overtake when its safe and continue on.
most of all, have fun, relax and enjoy yourself.
Oh, and the person most likely to get lost is - Bibio !!!! ;-)
If he actually gets his spaz-nav working, we really are screwed !!!!!
