View Full Version : Dishwasher Door Fitment?

Suggestions please.

Can anyone recommend a solution to my gripe. I currently have an integrated dishwasher door, and the fitments supplied are not strong enough to keep the door held on, and it keeps falling off due to the clips slipping out of the required holes.

I've tried smothering the door in No More Nails, and the front of the dishwasher, but this failed to provide the full adhesion, due to the aluminum surface on the dishwasher and the laquered door panel.

Could I sand down the laquered surface with a belt sander, in order to get the adhesive to take hold?

Unfortunately, their are no screw holes either to hold the door on from the rear.

So I'm in a bit of a pickle.

industrial Velcro, then you can remove the door if need be without having to butcher the dishwasher

should be able to get it from B&Q, i got mine from work :-$

Usually theres 2 screws at the top of the door that go all the way through to hold on the integrated door.

Theres 2 slide plastic rubbish that locate the door and then the 2 screws go right through from the inside ( usually stainless ) and just catch about 8 mm of the face door.

Kicthen doors are 20-22mm thick usually so you wont have a problem with the screw piercing the face.

If you have no joy with that, clear silicone sealant will do the job nicely.

( fitted a few hundred kitchens in my time ;) )

Thanks chaps for the advice, and to make double sure that the door stays in play, will use both ideas - that way I know it won't fall off when I attempt to open it again.

speedplay: those slide plastic hinges are a waste of time to say the least, so the clear silcone sealant looks like it's the way to go along with the industrial velcro.

Wideboy & speedplay: thanks for both of your suggestions, and now the door is firmly positioned on, and tested ok.

Hi Mate,

Just for future reference as i do these regular there are usually a plastic cover or something along the left and right sides hiding the holes.
The plastic brackets are for location only, in all the ones i have done i have never had to glue, silicone, stick any .
Have you got to the stage with fitting the plinths yet? the door swing on most require a 10-15 mm notch taken out of the upper part of the plinth.
