Well - I don't have a bike to rave about at the moment...

... and anyway - I'm soooooooooo proud...

... and this is the first picture I've ever had of the two of us together (camera shy me - but there was a pro on hand and I was kinda occupied )...

... and, yeah, well, ner. :p

Taken this morning. It wasn't a 'proper' competition, just a Clear Round (where you get a rosette if you dont' knowck anything down). He's only done this once before at Christmas, and they were only 1'3" then.

This time they were 2'...

... but I don't think Leo was told that.

Looks quite wheelie prone, have you considered a longer swinging arm or at least a wheelie bar?

Awesome horse :D

Looks like he's a got a big old jump in the second pic :D

Is that a dressage saddle you're jumping in there? not easy - I used to jump occasionally after schooling and I only had a dressage saddle  (I always used to nearly fall off too  )

done any mods??

K

 Thank you.

Richie - you smooth talker you. ;)

AL - kinda, it's a GP, well - more a VSD, so straighter cut - but it's a Heather Moffat treeless saddle and has really long girth straps/dressage girth, there are nicely padded knee blocks though. ;)

GG - mods, hmmm, just an almost complete rebuild after getting just the original frame. ;)

K, can i follow you home one of these days please? No, not for my usual pervy reasons this time but if you can take me in and make me as fit and healthy as he is now then it'll save me needing a gym membership :)

And the fact you'd ride me daily i wont complain about

cool. need to show the picture to my daughter, she loves jumping but always seems to part company with the horse just before take off. She gets over the jump normally but horse is left standing looking down at her.

not bad for a set of wonky legs

Although you do seem to be clinging on for dear life in the second.

are you training him for Puissance?

K
01-05-09, 07:52 PM
Bless him, his legs still tend to go all over the place so finding and settling into a stride is a bit hit and miss - mostly miss...

... but when it does come together he does tend to jump big regardless of what's actually there - hence my looking down to see where the hell the ground had gone! ;)

Even if he 'paces' to a fench though he still manages to get over it fairly smoothly so there little need to cling on, just go with the flow - the worst fault is his tendency to want to turn immediately after each fence...
... and I do mean immediately! Doesn't even want to take a stride, just randomly changes direction on landing - he just get's excited and his legs want to go everywhere. He's the makings of being really fast against the clock if we can just sort out the gait, straightness, stride length, balance, steering and overall over exuberance.

Oh, and he's a shade over 17 hands high - so about 5'9" at the top of his shoulder in 'real world' terms.
I was actually quite surprised when I first saw the photos that I didn't look as small on him as I would have thought - I'm only 5'3.5"/5'4" (depending on which leg I'm standing on ;)).

Spidey - if you want me to rug you up at night, feed you a nice high fibre/high oil diket and turn you out into a field each day then ok, BUT you can shovel your own poo! 8)

17 hands? Wowee. Bet it feels like you're flying when he jumps :-D
