Hang on a minute. I am here slightly drunk (I know breaking my own rule according to my own sig) having come back from the pub thinking what the hell!? Is this another one of your threads?

If you are ever so slightly serious arachnophobia can be cure rather easily. Now deep breaths, keep looking away from the spider and walk through the door to the heaven that is the toilet, in your situation anyway.

C'mon, spiders in this country are really not something to worry about. Go forth into the toilet and conquer your fear woman, do it!

Look away from the spider and go for it.

Nothing like drunken advice. :)

I understand the irrational fear bit as I used to be scared of the dark when I was a kid. Best thing to do it is calm down a bit, breathe deeply & confront it. I used to suffer from vertigo quite badly until I went climbing to do try and get over the worse of it. Still haven't solved it all but it helped. I guess in your case for spiders there must be local groups somewhere where you can see them inside a housing and handle some of them to get over it.

Anyway, no go over to the toilet to get some tissues for your tears. ;)

Damn, I am making far too much sense for a drunken man... right let's think of something else random... right got it, no wait... damn... it's gone!

PS. RIP MBK's frightening spider. You were at the wrong place at the wrong time, but I'll remember you.

An opinion that might not hold the test of time. Never say never, or ever in this case. But in all seriousness you need to get over it. They are tiny, you are HUGE for them. Just imagine you walk into a room and shout "Ahhhhh spiDER!!!!". The poor little thing is probably thinking "AHHHHH EIGHT OF THEM! HELP!!!!"

You huge, them tiny! You'll be fine, they be doing their best to get away from you will all of their 8 legs, in a hurry.

Ohh that sounds more drunk didn't it. :D

Ohh scotch! Now there is an idea! I was enjoying some real ale in the pub but I have a bottle of scotch that I got for Xmas. Hmm it's a work night, I've got karate tomorrow, it would just be a horrible combination. I've done it before, my sensei didn't stop until I turned a funny colour. I shall never go to karate lessons hung over again.

Nice! Spiders don't really scare me, I've seen an Addar snake whilst cycling I was trying to avoid it but seemed to go towards it to run it over

The one we discovered was palm size, didn't seem too impressed to be woken up to be put in a pot.

Maybe, maybe not. I have genuinely woken up with a huge moth in my mouth. I was hungover and thought it was just a dry mouth and I actually chewed it before spitting it out and realising what it was.

When I looked in the mirror, I had that shiny stuff they leave everywhere all over my face.
