My friends mum took this outside the Library in Crewe today.
It was two old dears they were heading towards the market over the other side of the road so the bus coming towards them hit his horn and the driver of the car hit the throttle instead of the brake and mounted the kerb
Thing I cant understand is, look how far away the road is :o

how the hell did they get there. All the plants look intact ,and that wall looks like it must have been huge

The only reasoning I can see is that they came up the library ramp which you can see on the left

No they were filming the new Harry Potter film- and it ran out of fuel in mid-flight. How did they open the driver door??

Probably used the handle I'd guess;)
Wow, makes you wonder who's more dangerous Gladys in her 70's driving her A reg Metro thats she has owned from new and done 20 miles in or Chad who is 17 and ragging around in his chavved up falling to bits Nova.
Still think 70 yeard old + driver should have their licence taken or made to do a more advanced driving test along with other things such as eye sight and reaction tests

This reminds me of something similar that happened in a supermarket carpark near me. The driver was manoeuvering out of their parking space on their automatic 4x4 Lexus and "accidentally" hit (floored) the accelerator instead of the brake.
The result was this:

The celica was totalled and the BBC reported that the (celica) driver "was not in the mood for interview" :-x
Why the (lexus) driver felt it necessary to continue to perform whatever action they were doing after the car mounted the curb is beyond me.
Plus, the brake pedal on an automatic is hardly easy to miss, its usually huge!!

Good advert for it's 4 wheel drive capabilities :)
It's apparently a common problem if you hit the accelerator instead of the brake. You think its the brake, your car accelerates forward, so you press it even harder. Takes a while to dawn that it aint the brake. This is how cars end up in such odd positions after this happens, and usually stop after crashing into something rather than by any act of the driver.
(I've never done this, btw!)
