View Full Version : Short gloves...
Does anyone on here use short gloves? im looking into getting a pair for the summer but im not sure what makes to consider first. Obviously the most important aspect of the gloves is crash protection but i really like to be able to "feel" whats going on so would like some that have quite thin palms ( dont want them falling appart if i land on them though )
any input most welcome im gonna go into newcastle on saturday and have a look around try loads on etc

Yes I do. I have some Halvarrsons 'Hill' ones. Well I think thats the name of them. They are wrist length. Have a rubbery patch on a thin leather palm.

I do have to say they are very much a summer glove though, but I love them. I have loads of full length gloves, and they don't gel well with the ends of my jacket sleeves, as I'm always wresting with them....these don't. The nice thing is, the hard knuckles are covered with leather rather than being stitched into them. After a recent 'off' they just scuffed over the knuckles a little, but lived for another day or four ;-)
I think they are arounf 35-40 quid.

Thats exactly why im lookin at them full length gloves dont go well with my A* T Dyno jacket, i think short ones will be much more comfortable
I've been lookin at the Halvarrsons ones on the tinterweb tonight they seem good value for money.
many thanks

Can't go wrong with Halvarrsons. I've got a full kit by them. I did have a good pair of all weather waterproof gloves from them too......but I kinda waterlogged them with torrential rain full on for 500 miles....they never recovered :-(
I used to wear short gloves in the summer months until i had a wasp go up the sleeve of my jacket, Ok the odds against it are quite high but it does happen.

I'm thinking of getting these, has anyone had them in the past or lnow anyone who has them?
I've got some Frank Thomas short gloves like THESE (http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/Clothingandaccessories/Gloves/Frank-Thomas/Frank-Thomas-SEG161-Sprint-Street-Glove.html).
Although FT doesn't have the best rep I really like 'em. Bed in really quickly and the feel is pretty good.
Not for winter use though.

for strictly summer gloves I have a pair of these
http://www.motonekoparts.com/files/detailed/d_3173.gif
Which are the Alpinestar Octane SM gloves, nice for road town, good fit and made well, very well vented and small enough to stuff in a pocket to, lasted well; although a bit pricey I understand :smt102
and for a little more protection I have these
http://www.store.commoto.com/images/triumph-as3-gloves.jpg
also well vented, both pairs are fairly thin on the palms and give a lot more feel than my winter ones, but the down side is the slightest rain results in wet hands (although they dry really quickly to).
Cheers Mark.
