nakedblue650
01-05-09, 10:02 AM
Right - I would like to get 20 quality heavy(ish) rock tracks together for iPod playlist. For example Paranoid-BS, Enter Sandman-Metallica etc. I would like them to be anthemic and inspiring.
Please note if I have mis described the genre please use your common sense and add a suggestion for a track not moans about incorrect genre!
Many thanks!
nb650
Oh and I only managed to get to about 6 convincing tracks - hence I need help! Mental blockage!!!!

I would just like to add that I would never add Bodies to a riding playlist - just like I would never add Enter Sandman - great tracks but would make me FAR too agressive.
At the moment my playlist consists of Utah Saints, Orbital, The Shamen, Pop Will Eat Itself, The KLF and Apollo 440, and a few others I am not going to fess up to :)
Rose Of Sharyn - Killswitch Engage
Awesome tune!
Also see:
Slayer - Angel Of Death
Pantera - F'ing Hostile
Machine Head - Wipe the Tears

ac dc - whole lotta rosie - live version.
Stonesour: 30/30-150
+1000000000
All this depends how heavy you want to go. :)
Any Rage Against the Machine Song or Prodigy song.
Black Stone Cherry - Lonely Train.
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames
Lostprophets - Burn Burn
Machine Head/Metallica - Battery (Orginal is Good, machine Head Cover is Good Too.)
Metallica - St. Anger
Metallica - All Nightmare Long
Nickelback - Animals (I know it's Nickelback, give it a listen though?)
POD - Boom
Stonesour - Get Inside
SOAD - BYOB (the comical suggestion)
Thats emm quite light suggestions, if you want to go heavier, theres Trivium, Bullet for my Valentine, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Slayer ect.
For very heavy, try Job for a Cowboy, I Killed the Prom Queen, Bring me the Horizon, The Black Dahila Murder, Bleeding Through, Suicide Silence, Canibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, Five Finger Death Punch, August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying or Still Remains.

I wouldn't class them as heavy rock, more emo nu-metal
If we're going down the less heavy rock route
Get Your Guns - Nine Black Alps
Monkey Wrench - Foo Fighters

Maybe a bit mainstream, but here's my suggestions for today (they might change tomorrow).
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf (can't have bike anthems without it)
The Prisoner - Iron Maiden (a good thrash and great lyrics)
Red Barchetta - Rush (OK - it's a car, but it's still a good track)
Paranoid - Black Sabbath (Classic rock)
She Hates Me - Puddle of Mudd (Just sing along inside your helmet)
Seven Seas of Rhye - Queen (Dated but good)
Kashmir - Led Zepplin (Specially for enduro riders)
Song Number 2 - Blur (Woo hoo.....)
Just don't play Song No.2 anywhere near a speed camera - you'll be waaay over the limit when it finishes :-)

A lot of what I was going to suggest has already been said, but for a Foo Fighters track I'd go with Everlong instead of Monkey Wrench. Everlong just builds and builds to this amazing crescendo at each chorus, great riff too - absolutely brilliant as a driving / riding song. :smt035
Foo Fighters - Pretender
Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (OK im a bit wierd - but have a listen)
Anathema - Fragile Dreams (bit soft but good track)
Offspring - Kids aren't alright
Lost Prophets - Last train home
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside or Cant stop
AC/DC -Thunderstruck (live)
