Warning both the wikipedia links will contain spoilers...

Brick

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_(film)

OK its weird, it doesnt make a whole heap of sense the first time you watch it, but I really like it

This is also a very good film

The Ice Storm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ice_Storm_(film)

Again its a bit weird and a bit slow paced, takes a bit of time to get into but again I really like it.

The Departed

Yeh I went to the cinema to see that with 3 other people and even though a long film it held my attention and has one of the biggest casts in recent times. Yet on the way out as I was about to give my verdict evrybody said it was absolute ****?? However 1 was my girlfriend - 1 my sister and it is probably more of a bloke film - as for my brother in law under the thumb:smt075 good film though.

Try apocalypto - bit different

Yes that is a very good film ad if you've seen that and are feeling silly, watch Walk Hard, the Dewey Cox Story. A bit of a Hot Shots for walk the line and there are some incredibly funny laugh out loud moments in it.

I've seen split opinion too but I liked it, and the academy thought it was alright too iirc.

At least worth a watch for anyone that likes "that kind" of film.

Crash & Traffic if you like ensemble cast films that are edgy, gripping and clever.

K-PAX if you want to be suprised. You read the blurb and think...nah, not for me, but when you watch the film you'll be very pleasantly suprised with a fantastic story, great acting and lots of the unexpected!

Stand by Me.......old but classic!

Taken with Liam Neeson.....enjoyed that and made a nice change from the norm.

That'll do for now!

Pan's Labrynth is really good.

One Hour Photo with Robin Williams is also similar just because its weird seeing him play a straight role and not being funny all the time.

It was a bit strange, but you should watch a film called Autumn Rush. He's in that and is playing a character totally against type. A very good film that Dan and me enjoyed, but not for all blokes I wouldn't have thought.

As for Cleaner with Samuel L. Jackson, watched it 2 nights ago and thought it was very good.

He's on top form in it. I think he's taking a couple of years out to decide if he wants to continue acting now after Natasha Richardson died. I was so shocked by that, his poor family.

I take it if you like him, you have seen Rob Roy???

No, not intellectual, but it's about a young boy that was given up for adoption ending up on the streets. He's taken in (if you can call it that) by a homeless man played by Robin Williams.

He's a musical genius and so were both his biological parents. He thinks if he can make them hear his music, he'll find them. So.....it's a bit of a soft film on the surface, but when you watch it, it's actually really good.

My fave film of all time has got to be Stand By Me. It's old, but it has humor that can make you need to change your pants, drama, suspense, nostalgia, a dead body and all backed up by a brilliant cast and an incredible script.

A little bit of the story Gordie tell around the campfire about the local fat kid in a pie eating competition.......classic stuff!

Gordie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000696/): What the audience didn't know was that Lardass wasn't really interested in winning. What he wanted was revenge, and right before he was introduced he'd gotten ready for it.
[Cut to flashback scene showing Lardass drinking a quart bottle of Castor Oil and eating a raw egg just before the start of the contest; cut back to the contest in progress]
Gordie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000696/): Diving into his fifth pie, Lardass began to imagine that he wasn't eating pies. He pretended he was eating cow-plops, and rat guts in blueberry sauce.
Crowd: Lardass! Lardass!
Lardass Hogan (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0511339/): Done!
[Lardass prepares to dive into his sixth pie, but then his stomach starts rumbling]
Gordie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000696/): Slowly, a sound started to build in Lardass' stomach. A strange and scary sound, like a log truck coming at you at a hundred miles-an-hour. Suddenly, Lardass opened his mouth, and before Bill Travis knew it...
[Lardass barfs all over Bill]
Gordie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000696/): ... he was covered with five pies worth of used blueberries. The women in the audience screamed. Bossman Bob Cormier took one look at Bill Travis and barfed on Principal Wiggins, who barfed on the lumberjack that was sitting next to him. Mayor Grundy barfed on his wife's tits. But when the smell hit the crowd, that's when Lardass' plan really started to work. Girlfriends barfed on boyfriends. Kids barfed on their parents. A fat lady barfed in her purse. The Donnelley twins barfed on each other, and the Women's Auxiliary barfed all over the Benevolent Order of Antelopes. And Lardass just sat back and enjoyed what he'd created-a complete and total barf-o-rama!
Vern (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005278/), Teddy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000397/), Chris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000203/): [Cheering and laughing] Yeah!

You havnt seen Leon?! Its amazing.
Natalie portman in one of her first films, brilliant young actress (12/13 at the time).
Her character Mathilda's family are killed in a drug deal, so is her 4 year old brother. She meets the man in the room next to her flat where her family was killed, and he turns out to be a hitman but he's the only person she can turn to.
Seriously its one of those films you just want to stand up and clap for at the end!

The 1st Rambo fillum was ok, but in David Morrell's book Trautman shoots him in the head... That wouldn't work well for sequels but it would have saved us from Rambo 2 and 3 which just got progressivley worse... Rambo 4 was great, if we could erase all memeory of the previous 2 movies... The first and last watched back to back work together..

Kinda like the Rocky movies, watch 1, 2 and 3 and the the very last one, makes more sense, has more heart and avoids all that rubbish cold war flag waving bollix from the 80's!
