As the weather gets nicer am looking to shed my waterproof ones.

Fancy a new pair of race style boots. Safety is paramount really. Looking to spend up to say £130? not sure on this really but will give it a go!

Have a look on evilBay - you should be able to get some Sidi Vertigos for that money. I have just brought these beauties for £180 - a full £70 cheaper than my local stealer!

Edit: Forgot to mention comfy as slippers!

I was aftersome race boots in november last year. I went around all the local bikes shop as I always do when looking for new stuff and tried most boots available for under £250

I ended up with some Alpinestar SMX+ boots. I have a dodgy ankle and these provided the most ankle support out of any boot, felt to provide themost protection, they feel amazing through the pegs and you can feel exactly what going on and they were almost the most comfortable

Cant remember how much they were but between £160 - £180 rings a bell

TCX Competition S

They come in black as well RS are more expensive but i want the competition s, tried some on at work so nice, hinted to parents that they could be an 18th bday present as my vertigos are too big and are falling apart.

I tried those smx5 nice but sligthly too small and they had no size 10's :( going back next weekend to buy some i think.

DO NOT buy sidi vertigos the build quality is crap, all the stitching on mine is shot and the soles are completely knackered (torn and i've had to superglue em back on).

I like the oxtars. They are one of the few boots to be actually CE rated as protective equipment, though most of the race styled ones are going to be protective. They are so far also waterproof and comfortable.

You will find with many race style boots with plastic ankle protectors they squeak in very annoying fashion. The oxtars do it, and my sidi vertebras did it too.

Ive got a pair of alpinestars smx plus', they squeak like mad, its really annoyin but its a price im willin to pay because they're awesome boots, very comfy and instill a lot of confidence with all the protection without losing any feel thru the pegs
