I have just got my papers thru for my private plate and need to order a new plate.
My plate is R16H** for my name, if the plate was legal in every way except havin R16H on line 1 then other letters on line 2. Would i get tugged every second?
I don't ride the bike like I stole it and Im not lookin to have any dodgey fonts or sizes or anythin, so i thought id be ok:confused:
All opinions appreciated:D

Ring the plates place and ask them. I've used 'auto plates' (or 'express plates'? :S) on john street in sheffield. Just asked them to make me one within the letter of the law.
Think that ones a no-go legally - http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/displayofnumberplates.pdf suggests that the law would look unfavourably on you moving the H to the end of the numbered section.

Hmmmmmmmmmm......
I'm undecided whether to risk it or not. Our lass had private plates which were J3 N** n she had them totally legal except the spacing i.e J3N ** n neva got pulled.
Legally it has to be the same spacing as written e.g. N2 NJK or EU08 JJU
Youre legally not allowed to change the spacings, but unless the sizes/font are really taking the pi$$ then you're unlikely to get pulled for it.
If it were my choice, id risk it.

I can't stand private plates.
One of the company directors has one on his BMW M thing. To me it says look I have money but no taste.
A mate of mine has one on his car. He is the constant object of ridicule for it.
Why do it? I see its an attempt at your name, do you have trouble remembering it? But seriously why?

I think people also like them as they conceal the age of your vehicle.

To an extent thats not true, you cant put a numberplate on the vehicle that makes it look younger than it is.

I didn't say you could.
Concealing doesn't mean to make younger, it means to hide. Which is why a lot of people have private plates.

I did say all opinions appreciated.:)
I know from past experience that privy plates are very marmite.
Mine was a gift, but i see the attraction to personalising the vehicle. If everybody liked the same thing it'd be a borin old universe:p
I didn't say you could.
Thats what i thought you meant when you said conceal its age...
A guy near me has 3 different Audi's, with the following numberplates:
S1 FRT
S2 FRT
S3 FRT
Whenever i see them i think of the word fart... perhaps not the effect he was after.

I've got a private plate on the car - had it for 3-4 years and never* had a problem... the plate is "100% legal" in every respect (font, size, colours, even have the GB/Euro flag marker on the left), except the spacing has been changed slightly... in fact, there are no spaces - so my plate reads "L7NVX" whereas there should be a space between the 7 and the N to make it "legal".
It's barely noticeable on the cage though - probably more noticeable on a bike where you've shifted lines. But there we go ;)
* - until 3 weeks ago when it failed it's MOT on the plate. Promptly got a couple of "proper" plates made up at Halfrauds, stuck them over the top of my proper plate, had the MOT guy pass it, then promptly ripped them off and stuck them in the boot.

Exactly before I went and ****ed my bike up, when I had just bought it someone looked it over and asked me if I'd bought it brand new but just as they did so they looked at the plate and saw the V reg and went 'oh' flatly lol.
