The exhaust on the Raptor is not exactly looking pretty, well TBH it's been like that since we got it- not been polished once .

Neither of us has a polishing fetish like Kwak or DizzyB.
So I was thinking of getting some sort of coating on the zorst only things I could think of were
Exhaust wrap (kitkat not keen on this)
Ceramic coated
Spray it with exhaust/high temp paint

Any other options?
Would powdercoating work?

You'd probably want a high temp paint, not sure what sorts of colours they are but yeah.. :|

Paint sounds ok but I want something that's going to last without me having to touch it up or it flaking off etc

Just get some of that wierd metal polish and a wire brush and spend about.. a weekend doing it.

Polishing is a definite no no!!!! [-X[-X

4 kids, a dog, 5 bikes in the household and work don't lend themselves to having much time to ride let alone a weekend of polishing! I don't even polish the Akra system on the SV!

Not sure if you'd want black, but I used to use black high temp BBQ paint on my CB500 exhaust quite a bit...seemed to scratch it alot somehow :S covers it well and it'd stop corrosion

yeah we're looking at satin black to match the peg hangers that i had powder coated a couple of months back

I'd definately give it a go, the finish is fairly good when you do it yourself, hanging it in the garden on a nice non-breezy day :P cheap stuff too

want something that i'll not have to keep re-doing or touching up, not that i'm lazy i just can't be bothered doing it ;-)

Just buy a stainless from Micron. :D

I'm not sure if it would flake on the downpipe or not, it lasted well on my can, but not sure of a downpipe as its gonna be excessively hotter...the only thing that makes me clean my downpipe is the thought of having to spend dosh on another if it gets a hole :smt101

The exhuast on it is a stainless steel one but it's not been polished for a long time plus Micron don't list and exhuast for the Raptor.
My SV has got a SS Akra system and that has gone all brown as well

I did get my tube of autosol out once but that's the closest it's got to being polished

I've got some acid rust remover - Jenolite. It's easy to put on, makes a bit of a difference, but wouldn't be permanent.

Will give that a try, need to get it cleaned up first.

But does anyone know if you can powder coat an exhaust and get good results? Or has anyone had an exhaust ceramic coated?

prices for a ceramic coating are not outrageous (http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/Exhtprices2002.htm)

I saw that the other day when I was looking and noticed that it's a price list from 2002

I only know of two produces that work well, one is ceramcoat and the other is VHT paint, there are a few more, but both of these I've found to be more durable.

Cheers Mark.
