I'm 17. I have TFT insurance for £545. I was running quotes yesterday and MCE came back with a quote of £250 TFT on my SV!
The callcenter contacted me, as they do and I said I'll be having that then. Even the guy couldn't believe me and had to double check for himself :D Apparently it's a new one they started yesterday.
Might save some of you some money

It also might be a mistaken quote on their computer system, and they could be well within their rights when they end your cover after realising in a month's time...

Was he a broker or the underwriter?
Not saying it's not right, just be aware that if something is too good to be true it usually is;)

It's MCE, which I believe is a direct insurance thing. IE it's not a broker.
Also get free breakdown recovery which will be nice incase of the inevitable puncture :)

MCE are a broker, the underwriter will be one of the big insurance companies like NIG/AXA etc etc

I went through MCE for my thou, bearing in mind i binned the old bike last year which wiped out my NCB, been riding for 3 years, most companies were qouting in the region of £400-500, i managed to get it for £200, excess was a little steep but all in all a bloody good qoute.
im 17 and with mce well there the broker and its K something insurance, im £750 with them, wich i could get it that cheap and im TPFT

Hmm
was that stright off ....although they accepted my year of moped riding as 1 years NCB which helped the low price , most companies said no.

cheapest i got was £265, 2NCB,2 Years license and i'm 20. Go figure.
Ill keep this site in mind, it would have actually saved me £100 but ill stick with my other insurance for now ( hrinsurance.co.uk )
Thanks anyway tho!

dnt go with mce!!! i was 17 had tpft on my sv i paid the full £650 up front and 2months in the asked for another 50quid so to save hassle i paid it and then it happened again on the 4th month and again on the 6th so i refused to pay it after already giving them an extra £100 and phoned axa up and they said we can not tell you anything u will have to go through the broker but off the record axa have not asked for anymore money so i complained to mce and they sent me a cheque refunding me for the remainding 6months, so i also lost 6months ncb becuase i had to start again with another insurance company.

Everyone goes through them as a broker. That's because MCE is a broker. In this circumstance AXA was the underwriter i.e the insurance company

This policy shows that MCE themselves are the underwriters, but hey. :|
Talking of which, my current policy runs through until December.
If I change I will lose my NCB? Currently it's £56 or something a month. This would be around £25 per month?
I'm new to the insurance malarky so can't I just say I've had a years no claims sort of thing anyway?

Two things you need to check.
That the cover the MCE policy offers is same or better than your current policy.
Have you seen the size of the 'voluntary' excess on that quote you posted up? If a third party makes a claim for £650 you have to pay ALL of that! Hardly worth having insurance if you still get stung for that much in event of a claim.

WRT the above query, you will lose any NCB built up this year. Only full years of policy count towards NCB. If you have no NCB right now, it might pay you to keep going for the full year and then look for cheaper insurance.

My current excess is £650. I'll work it out better tommorow..

I'm insured with H&R and my insurance for the same cover is over £100 cheaper than my 125.
Something worth noting, I got a quote with standard xs for about £290, then a quote with maximum voluntary xs (extra £500 to add to £250 standard xs so £750 xs in total) for about £240. But add to that optional xs insurance which covers upto £500 I got a quote for £265.
So i am now in the same position as the 1st quote with a £250 xs but i have saved £25.
It's worth playnig about with the different options!! I played them at their own game and won!!
I have a weird thing with Express Insurance (Suzuki) which means that I don't pay any excess at all for the first claim per year and strangley it didn't matter if I opted out of it...the premium was the same!

Have you had a claim? Theyre very similar to my quotes but with a recent claim under my belt. When I had no claims an 2year ncb I was getting quotes about 3-400 punds cheapers than those
£500 voulentry though thats why its so cheap me 17, 1 yr ncb, fully comp, vol excess £250, comp excess £100 (i think) premium £708 and i think im with kig through MCE

Mike, being young requires a silly excess to even get a quote, compulsary excess for me is usually £500 and to get a decent quote i'll be looking at at least another £250 on top of that
I'm 24 and the excess on my daytona policy is £1100 - fortunately due to the way the policy extras are priced it was cheaper for me to take a silly excess then include excess protection that covers £500 of that amount if I need to claim - but that's still £600...
Youth + Easily damaged fairings = silly excess

Be aware that MCE are a really rubbish company- and I can say this as I have always been insured through them. They have messed up every single year I have been with them, and *touch wood* I've never had to claim, so god knows what they'd be like in the event of an accident. They are cheap, hence why I use them, but I sometimes wonder if it's worth the hassle. I spent 3 months with an uninsured bike this year after they had my details completely wrong. Fortunately I was using my other bike which they had correct. Last year they charged me twice and took 6 months to refund me, the year before........you get the idea. Oh and I also have an on going dispute with them over breakdown cover which they miss sold to me...

MCE were great for me, no claim either but getting the KTM registered on the road without a registration number* and at a reasonable cost was something only they managed
In the genius system devised by the DVLA you need insurance to register a new vehicle and get a VRM, but you need the VRM to get a normal insurance policy, you need to phone insurers up and get them to insure the vehicle on a frame number to do it, and a sizable number of supposedly knowledgable brokers won't...
Ebike seem to be good for me just now..
Around £350 third party only, and only £64 to add another SV worth ~£2800 onto the policy..

what does it matter what your SV is worth when the policy covers third party damage only
oh, and you'll reeeeeeally regret not getting fire and theft when it gets nicked;)

IF only this wasn't true. A very close friend who always kept his bike in the house spent a night at his girlfriends house, on the next street up from me. At midnight he came banging on my door asking if he'd heard anybody revving the nuts out of his baby past my house.
The love of his life(and no, not the GF) had been half inched from outside her house....he only had the bike on TPO, he was absolutely gutted:pale: bike was never to be seen again.
As for insurance quotes, usually me being old and all, Carol nash usually give a good renewal quote. This year its crap. I'm on five years NCB now so was expecting it to go down as usual, but nooooooooo :-(
I've haggled the best I can out of them, but am a bit miffed. No I won't change, as CN really do offer a good package for what you pay, and I've used their breakdown service. Apparently insurers are feeling the pinch this year, so its being handed down to us poor folk!

Clean everything, not ever been insured on any vehicle except for what I learnt on.
However it was an online quote which I don't really rely on
