very interesting, very fair imho. We all know bikes will lose out on the brakes and in the corners.

One thing that gets me - in car vs bike tests, they always seem to pick Ducatis. Top Gear (or 5th Gear, i forget which) always seem to use Ducatis too. I reckon a GSXR thou would put up a better fight.

Very good he looked a bit tasty on the ducati, would a gixxer thou lash all over a 1098?

I see alot of these new skylines in the northeast they do look like a proper racing tool.

i reckon it would - similar weight, but more power from the gsxr. Spose there's a lot more to it than that though.

I want a gixxer thou but i can barely get the best out of the SV so i would probably die test riding a gsxr lol

Would be interesting to see the outcome on a track like silverstone

To be fair, it's a £50k car, so why not have the best? I'd have pitted it against a Desmosedeci myself, or at least an 1198s but I don't believe these models were out then.

But either way I'd prefer knee down anyday..

So by how much does the GTR win by??

Jackie_Black

3 seconds i think they said, although i've had a lot of wine. Cars destroy bike in corners. But bikes are more fun. Me mate has one of those cars on order though i'll drag race him on me ninja and see who wins!!

~3 seconds round Cadwell.

Yeah, 3 and a bit seconds. Its a good watch but considering the track was damp and the gtr is 4wd conditions did favour the nissan. I think they're both brilliant bits of kit though so it was good watching

thats an even better vid both toesland and tiff are awesome drivers/riders, love it when toesland goes over the mountain, gets air and lands it on the back wheel to do a stand up wheelie.

No way one of those Ricer civics could get anywhere near as close, they just acted it out.. The Autocar vid was better IMO. :|

Maybe on a more open track the bike would have an advantage......Cadwell park is known for being twisty. To give two cliches......bike wins on bang for buck, and smiles per mile!!

Hmmm dont know about that. I would still prefer to walk away with the GT than the Duc.

The Nurburgring is the classic bike v car environment. A good car in the right hands is always worth playing with, however I've had my closest shaves around there when doing so. The areas where one is better than the other are just so distinct, as demonstrated in that video, that any race between the two is always going to be fraught. If the rider can make a break so the car doesn't get to stuff them in the next braking zone you are in with a chance, but I can assure you there is nothing more likely to make you back off a bit on a straight than knowing that the 1.5 tons of metal driven by an unknown German (or worse still Frenchman) that you are about to pass is going to try and come back under you when you next brake.....

Good vid. I got to say though that I do think that at a less twisty slow track the bike would probably be able to do the car.... Look at the other vid vs the lambo for an example. :)

When it comes down to it we have a race on a damp track that suits the car...big deal
Lets talk about the real world....the world full of traffic ,street furniture ,traffic lights roundabouts.
good god even a 33 bhp pointy would give it a run for its ££££££££
oh and dont forget the stone chips over that expensive paint work

competition environment - 4 wheels will generally whoop a bike through corners as cars don't have to worry about lowsides, highsides or how much grip is left on the shoulder shoulder of the tyre... a car can slide & drift fairly controllably, so theoretically it's going 'past' the limits of grip in comparision with a bike.

Also, learning to ride a bike like toseland, camier or the other guy takes alot of years of practice and big cojones. Anyone can jump in a car and drive fast relatively quickly, seeing as there's no lean angles or body movement to consider.

Maybe that's why it's so rewarding learning to ride a bike well or 'fast' - because it takes so much more than just pushing a pedal and turning a wheel?

I love biking but driving fast also comes in at a very close second :)

The BHP per Kilo goes to show that power is not the be all and end all and considering that the Duc was against a standard car. I know that round our local back lanes I am quicker in my car than on the bike and its a front wheel drive car.

The opening line on that first video is a bit laughable, they weren't expecting a caterham to beat the hypermotard? Er why? Nuggets.

Yeah but which would you prefer if you had to *buy*?? Think that's what the cliche refers to!

For me i would love to have both on the drive, but i would take the GTR hands down, its an awesome car.

If someone said I can have one for the £50k+ they cost, and said alternatively I could have a 1098 for the £10k+ (depending on model) they cost, I'd be hard pushed to choose. That's a lot of extra cash.
I'd have to be earning some serious amounts of money for the cost of either to be negligible, and at that point I'd probably just have both!!
