Why? Just saw on bbc a bloke with black paint all over his face and also last year in barcelona the blokes with tshirts saying "Hamiltons family"

What is the need for it f**king T**ssers?

The Spanish do have a "funny" way of looking at this kind of thing. Where we find "blacking up" racist they still think its acceptable and fun. And not in a derogatory way. I live there for a few years and there really was no animosity or hate bedhind it.

Its also struck me that in a lot of the religious iconography (ooh big word i dont get to use often, right there) they dipict the virgin Mary as a black woman with very "white" european features. A lot of carvings of her are made of ebony wood too.
I never did quite understand it all but it really isn;t the same attitude you got to see coming from those scumbags that were so blatantly guilty of killing Stephen Lawrence.

BTW i'm not trying to defend them by saying all that, just trying to explain the attitude behind it a bit.

Look a bit more into this. The Black Madonna isn't necessarily what it seems. Most likely a pagan symbol that was adopted by Christians, and in fact its roots could be much older than Christianity. Quite a few accounts of spooky goings on around some of these statues too.
