Hello everyone, my name is andrew, and for about 2 days now I have been the proud new owner of a 2000 sv650s.
Just wanted to salute everyone, as this forum has been very helpful to me.. and that's just about it.
Here she is, my first bike (pictures are attached, because I don't know how to make them visible upfront)

She's got a few scratches and bruises, and I should replace the isolation to the gearbox (leaking a little oil), but other then that, she runs great.

Hope you all like it (I do, and that's all that matters to me..)

Haven't even polished them yet. but thanks for the compliment :D

On a cleaning note....... rear wheel is caped in old grease mixed with brake dust, gone hard. Any ideas for cleaning?
Tried the well acclaimed wander wheels....... didn't touch it.

good to hear from you all! Tom

Nope, i'm 25... been dreaming about buying a bike for ages. Got a job for 3 years now. Bought a car first 'cause there's winters also, and now I finally got the money for a bike. One more day doing paperwork and then I'm home free :D
Btw, where are you from in Romania?

Forgot to ask something.. And this is going to sound ridiculous, but here it goes:
How do you adjust the side mirrors? I'm not talking about what I should be seeing in them, but how to move them.. Because they seem pretty well in place, and I don't want to force them too much (I tried adjusting them by pulling on them)..
Any trick involved (are they even adjustable?)

they just get tight if they are not moved for a long time. Don't worry, just hold the stalk in one hand and move the mirror with the other hand. Maybe try oiling them with some WD40 or similar light oil first around the ball joint.

2 noobies in 1 thread, nice and economical, lol.

Welcome one, welcome 2 , welcome all!!!

The guy at my old work place is Romanian and he always liked my SV. Asked me a lot of questions about biking and gear and went and bought himself a brand new.....

... 125cc yamaha! And he's over 6ft 4 so its hilarious seeing him ride that round london.

Hope you fit your bike a bit better than he fits his.

Yeah, I fit it just fine. I'm 1.80m (5ft 9 ?). Just finished the paperwork today. Tomorrow I get my plates. Then it's off!... to the parking lot, where I need to practice (it's my first bike) basic controls and all the swerving, braking, turning etc...
Hope I won't brake too many things :)

:D for the same "economical" reasons, i thought i'd say hello in this thread as well!

proud owner of a pointy, for 3 months now. I like the org, been visiting for a while , so i decided to join, since i ride my own now, and i might need some help with parts...

so hello andreis, have fun with your bike, hello all!

p.s. I went on and bought the bike first, not a car. Couldn't wait that long:)

Dido!
Nice looking piece of machinery.. I didn't have the money to buy a pointy (i would have, just for the direct injection), but I hope I get to see yours in the flesh some sunny day :)
Happy ridding!

P.s. I suspect you got the bike of one of the guys from whom I tried to buy a bike also (but he sold it to someone else first)
