If your breaking the law and get caught then more fool you but if your breaking the law and get caught by an unmarked car then you always feel that little bit more silly.
I just did a search and couldnt find a similar thred so I thought it may be helpful to those who use the roads often to know what to keep an eye out for in your area.
If you have more information about any perticular constabulary transport feel free to add it.
Location: West Yorkshire
Hot Spots: M62 between Jct 27 and 25 and surrounding A roads.
Colour: Navy Blue and another one in Silver
Make: Volvo
Model: T5 Estate.
Give Aways: White Strobes just below the lights on both front and rear bumpers.
Mods if this is naughty, feel free to remove Cheers.
I've seen quite a few unmarked bobbies about the country.
On more than one occation they were in a dark grey BMW saloon. Think it was an M3 but may be wrong, definately a rapid looking BMW though.
Me and wideboy were following an unmarked copper yesterday, then he dissapered and the next minute he was following us on a pan euro 1300.
You would be better putting this in the relevant regional area imo.
I know of a few round North Yorkshire ... ;)

I've seen a 2003 Vauxhall Vectra silver with blues n twos on which i thought was way too old to still be in the force. I saw a blue Focus ST pull someone on the motorway. It's kinda hard to tell.

Generally keep an eye out for a 2nd rear view mirror, extra aerials and secondary lights, normally on the front bumpers and behind the grille.

Black/navy blue BMW 3 series.
Looks like your usual base model BMW 3 series but the fuzz have put an M3 engine in there.
Sivler Skoda/Volkswagen estate
Sorry I can't give anymore info on the latter.
Seems like if it's gunmetal grey or blue and fast looking you'd better slow down!

Remember that alot of fire service use unmarked cars with blues aswell. That might explain the older cars eg the veccy mentioned above

Nah this one was a GUY he turned them on to pull someone over. I haven't seen an unmarked fire car thingy. They seem to have 'Fire' on the side or something but not blank.
Sorry didn't realise how offensive that was :p -on knees begging for forgiveness-

Good idea for a thread. Wouldn't it be better having a section in each of the regional sub forums though?

I cant really see the use of this thread becasue you arnt going to remember all this information incase you see a car in your area. What are you going to do, acess the .org on your lap top via your 3 internet while doing somthing else illegal to see if the car infrom of you is a police car?? :study:
Also, if you see the car, its probably too late to do anything about what law you are braking unless you come up behind it, in which case you will be able to tell its a police car by give aways like areals, extra lights, extra mirrors, extra computors in the front, policemen in uniform sometimes etc.
yes there are unmarked cars out there, so what, just be aware that they are possibly around the next corner and observe the cars around you, which you should be doing anyway. imo if you are going so fast that it isnt safe to have this level of observation, you are going too fast. It is easy enough to do this at 'normal motorway excess speeds'!
It gives a good idea of what to look out for though. There are certain makes of car that are common within this list so people can now be aware around these vehicles and perhaps be a bit more vigilant when going for a quick overtake. :)

Not nice mate. There are plenty of coppers on here, some of whome are really nice people, just doing their jobs.

I totally understand your point of view mate, my intention was that if you know one is working a certain area and you notice you've got a car matching that one giving you some attention you;d be more inclined to wind off and take it easy until you part ways rather than think sod this **** and wind it on to get outta there only for them to flash the blues and pop goes ya licence. The 3 points which are currently on my licence were aquired in very similar circumstances from the silver T5 I mentioned. Im not hoping to cheat the law or anything just maybe cause people to think twice before getting excited with the right hand.

yeah i see the point of the thread in so far as informing people that there are marked cars about and you shoud take that into consideration when overtaking cars.
but unless the list is total, I cant see any real point in it. there might be a green bmw unmarked car that bucks the trend of unmarked cars put out on the road tomorrow. as this wont be on the list you would still need to be doing all the checks you should be doing anyway IMO.
Me and my mates were sat in a industrial estate one night =\ and i saw this BMW X5 go past i just knew it was a copper 20 secs later he's turned round comes to where we parked yea defo copper, blues on i knew it, a previous night to that i saw this car parked up could only see headlights and nothing else said to my mate thats a copper sure enough it was and it was a marked one, ie got a sixth sense, a police sensing one methinks

My Dad got pulled last year by the oldest unmarked car in NYP - Black Vaux Omega - That's all I remember him saying about it. Up Helmsley way that was!

Yup found this one today. He was obviously in a good mood (or a hurry) as he gave me something of a hand-signed b*ll*cking though his open window at motorway cruising speed. Oops :smt083
