I bought a new laptop almost a year ago, ever since I had it it locks up. When I am on the net it simplt freezes and I have to turn it off and on again.
It now does it approx 5/6 times a night and it is annoying the pants off me.
Do I changed Windows Vista rubbish hoping that is the issue or do I send it back under warranty. I have 9 days left LOL

How hot does it get. Liz's laptop plays up if it sits on our laps as it doesnt get enough cool air through it and it overheats...

or as fizz says they do easily overheat.
I'd guess at a bad memory stick - get somebody to run a check on it if you can.

64,000 dollar question with pc's - main suspects ar anti-virus OR any kind of search you have loaded such as MS live search or google desktop - they were my culprits, the scalliwags !
I'm confused hun, you already sent an email to send it back.
At the end of the day, if it's not performing as you'd expect, and it's under warranty, that's what the warranty is for.
If you do keep it though (as I know what you're like), don't let me forget to have a decent look at it when I'm back down there, like you did last time. :p

At the end of the day, you could spend ages f*cking with it and still not find the cause of it. Its got warranty cover on it so send it back.

So looks like Shell will be off the net for a while while she gets a new PC.
Cheers Fizz ta right, best get my stuff on disc.

Argh cool so I dont have to send back, thats what I couldnt be bothered with you know how lazy I am :)
Less time on computer = more time on bike

Yeah, it should only be a couple of days, maybe a week with ebuyer for a turnaround.
Anything longer than that & let me have the phone number & RMA to kick up a stink for ya. I generally end up arguing for faster service & free upgrades due to the hassle. :)

Ooops is that allowed .... sorry Fizz right back to computers .... make it last a day as tomorrow may be my last day with one LOL :smt100
EDIT I think Baph derailed it with dirty talk ... or is that just I can read his mind LOL
I'm pretty sure I've got enough bits to throw a computer together for ya hun, and I've got enough bungee straps to bring it down with me.
So if you are going to be suffering withdrawl from the net I can always bring that down with me. :)
Edit: No comment on the mind reading thing. Everything I've typed has been within U-rating. :)

Reinstall windows (it should be stored on your HDD it is on mine) or if you feel it needs to be especialy as you only have 9 days warranty left and this may not cure the problem send it back.
Meh my lapy is c**p keeps using virtual memory + more and then saying its not got enough although i only internet browse on it and the odd college doc but due to it being 2 years old instead of reinstalling windows which is on the HDD im going to reinstall it from a disk that i have so i can also get rid of all the acer s**t

Cheers holdup. I called Ebuyer this morning to send the damn thing back.
Because it's discontinued (they change their stock so often) they cannot replace. And since I get a 2year manufacturers warranty I have to send back to Asus and they will repair.
Grrrr do I or dont I? Can I put up with it freezing, will it come back the same.
Oh well laptop down, beer and garden is needed
Grrrr do I or dont I? Can I put up with it freezing, will it come back the same.
I vote keep it. So little of the warranty left & ASUS will take an age to repair it & get it back to you.

Of course if it is knackered and it fails completely outside of its warranty period it'll be scrap or an expensive repair bill...

I have a 2 year warranty on it according to Ebuyer.
I have decided it's going back. It wasn't expensive but wan't cheap and if I pay £460 for summat I expect it to work.
It's not a heat issue as it sometimes does it as soon as it is switched on.
With it having the 2 year warranty I have time to backup my tunes and pic etc ..... hope I get it back quick but as Fizz says if it dies it may be expensive.
Cheers guys for your advice.
