Hi folks,

saw an add in the paper for personalised number plates and I have one on my bike from the previous owner. It reads: X11 UVX (so same letter at start and end). Just wondering if theres anyway of selling this and getting the T reg plate back on (not that i have it), as it means nothing to me so a few extra snuts would go down nicely

thanks,
Draper

p.s. WD40 on tyres, soap and water good enough?

dont know how he done that. Can't make a bike look newer by use of registration! lol
To get the original back, contact dvla, think theres a form to fill out. And theres usually a transfer fee which is £80 ish

WD40, how much on tyres, just ride them carefull until they are warm it will evaporate off.

the wd40 was just a little from when i got abit hap hazard with chain cleaning. It just seemed a little slippy in a bend, so thought maybe i might have rolled the bike over some on the floor outside.

Stevie - the probably was pretty new when he got it, but if a company buy them off you it might be worth it if its more than around 80 quid then?

I'd reckon the company would pay the £80 mate to be honest. Thats the fee to get the private plate put onto a new car. They might get it on retention or something like that.
What i meant about the age part is that because its a t-plate bike, it can't have an x plate prefix, God knows how he managed that one.

ahh so there probably not much point then

the x's are inplace of another letter, i just put an example of how the plate was, just incase it is silly to post your reg on the net

thanks guys

Methinks the "Xs" are substitute for the proper letters. Will be interested in the outcome as I have an "A" reg [A-XX-XXX]

Ah right. Sorry, My mistake lol Give a few companys a call and see how much theyre offering. Give the dvla a call aswell to double check pricing of getting a t-plate re assigned to your bike. Could still end up making you quids in

Under normal circumstances when a cherished plate is allocated to a vehicle the original reg no. is kept by the DVLA and should the owner decide to revert back it is re-allocated to the vehicle.I have had my cherished plate on 5-6 different bikes/cars/trucks and always been given the original number back.
Very occassionally a Q plate is issued under exceptional circumstances but even if you don't get the original back they will issue a reg no. for the year of registration providing you can prove the date it was first registered
