Just a hello from me, I did post in banter as I missed this section. I'm just about imbetween Newport and Chepstow - I've only had my license about 1 month so not really up to scratch to attend any meets, but if any locals fancy a slow follower then count me in!

Craig

P.S I'm riding this incase anybody flies past a blue sv:

Join us on the North Devon Run (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=129551), A lot of the Taffia are camping, but if your not into that, I'm going over for the day and would be happy to ride over with you.

hi giarc,

I'm situated around the same area as you i think. I live in Redwick (Magor basically). I'll keep an eye out for the blue pointy. I'm a total newbie as well so wouldn't worry about it too much. I've got prob 2 months experience and thats it. Same as Springbokki aint made a meet yet, always busy or something else but we'll all have to meet up sometime :-)

N.Devon GP (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=129551) - Be good to see you all there.

A bunch of folks are camping nr Barnstaple and joining the rideout. If you're up for that as well go HERE (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=130221).

Obviously you're welcome to drop by at the campsite anytime during the weekend. I think a few doing the rideout are stopping by the campsite afterwards for a bit of social.

Possibly trip up Brecon way? Or visit the lovelly area near Chepstow?

Shame the weathers crap tomorrow otherwise i'd be up for a ride. Add your name to the next rideout and search for previous rides as there have been some crackers.

I hope this fall on a day I can go. The road up thru Tintern is good, but it's very popular with the sunday drivers. The old road from Monmouth via Raglan to Abergavenny is much better. As are the B roads from Chepstow to Usk via Chainbridge to Aber. :D

junction 24 - its a slip road that goes downwards. you then need to take the second exit (pretty much straight across but obviously not dead straight across cause you'll get back on the motorway lol). this is a small dual carriage way i think. Get on this for something like a few hundred yards and then theres a round about, go all the way around it and double back on yourself, as you do this you'll see a turn in on the left that takes you to the mc donalds, travel lodge (i think) and a beefeater pub thing. We'll meet in the Mc Donalds car park if thats good for everyone. Yum Mc Donalds breakfast. Going to lube me chain now ooer and clean the bike cause she's as dirty as sin

No worries Cymraeg. I'll be leaving at 10am since its only 15mins to the meeting point so will keep eye on forum incase you cant make it or will be late.

I'm still hoping to get my oil and filter done before we set off in the morning. Out of interest anyone know if im running any sort of risk if the oil is due a change but i go for one more run without doing it? are bikes really that sensitive to oil changes?

Alright dude, well, I think it is just a fuse, so, she should be sorted, if not, I will run her down to a Suzuki dealer in Cardiff and see what they say.

As for the oil, short answer is yes. As soon as the oil turns black and/or is at the change mileage you should change it, afterall, in a bike the oil does the gear-box as well as the engine, so, the cleaner/newer the oil, the better.

Doesn't take long to change the oil and filter anyway, only takes 10 mins :-)

wizurd
22-05-09, 09:37 PM
cool - did wonder. My only issue is where to get an oil filter from? any ideas? was going to pop into south wales superbikes in the morning and see if they stock them cause dont think halfords do ( getting the oil from halfords ).

Will then get me ass home - get the fairing off - drop the oil and put it all back in. Haven't got an oil filter wrench either, surely i can just tighten it with me hand though?

Good luck with ya lights by the way mate. Hope it is just a fuse

I managed to chane the oil on Suzi without using an oil filter tool, turned the oil filter with my hand.

Do you really need to remove the fairing to get to the sump plug?

SWSB should have oil filters as they are a Suzuki dealer, I got mine from Pee Gee's in Caerphilly.

Well, she will be fixed, just a matter of when. Cheers

I don't think I'll be able to make it, I have been working on Suzi and rund around garages and they all say I need an auto-electrician, so, I have one on the way over, but, he won't be here till gone 10am :(

If she is sorted before 10:30am I will ride over and ride down the B4245 the wrong way to which you guys are going, if I pass you I can do a U-turn and follow on from there.

If not, I'll see you all on the 30th

Yeah cheers for the ride guys, hope you get the bike sorted Tim! That Chepstow to Usk road was a good riot, and the Tintern road. Thanks again may see you this Sat if something is organised.

Cheers

Sounds like was a good run.

Shame I missed it, but, Suzi now has new wiring to the rear indicators, a new rear-brake pedal light switch and some modified speedo cable as it got shreded in the head-stock...

Roll on next Saturday :-)

all good - fingers crossed then we'll all be ok on saturday. Glad ya got your wiring sorted Cymraeg.

Craig that old road chepstow to usk is great fun, forgot how tight it can be at times but cant half pour on the power in certain sections. Did you see that gsxr (i think) that shot past us as we approached an up hill right hander, he came around that corner seriously leant over. I wish lol

I should be OK for Saturday *touch wood*

Suzi has been given a good wash and wax along with a thorough check to make sure everything is OK. I am gonna be riding her to work this week, so, should be a fun week for as long as the weather holds out.

Pirelli SC's + wet road = :-? ha ha

I am waiting for the weather tomorrow morning to make my choice about my riding, after all the 'forcasters' said it would rain Monday and it didn't, not one iota...
