I finally got to ride my sv. What a great feeling!! Didn't ride it past 40mph, but What a feeling! :D Unfortunately, I did fell (nothing bad happened), and a friend of mine who's been a rider a looong time ago also took it out.. and fell (bad things there - a few cracks in the hull - it's an "S", but nothing serious though, no broken lights, nothing)...
So I was just wondering two things:
1. How was your first ride (ever / sv650)
2. Is it easy to fix cracks in the hull? No paint job or anything, just stitching a crack about 4 inches long.. Do they just pour hot plastic on top and basically glue it together?
That's just about it for now.. maybe later I'll put some pictures with the fresh damage
Happy riding everyone!
remember to put your feet down when you stop. it depends what you want it to look like really

Quite frankly, I don't really want to do a super fix, as I'll probably add some new marks. So, I'll just stitch the cracks and skip the paint job.. I've seen some ok fixes done with Plastex (looked it up the net).. I'd be satisfied with something like that.. Just gotta find it in my country ;)

I only found it in the states so far.. and a long and far way from the states :)
I'm gonna go out shopping tomorrow & see what I find..
Btw, if anyone needs new cheap fairings I actually found how you can make your own for a VERY small price.. You just need an identical fairing so you can get the cast right and the rest is rather simple..
Thought maybe some others have found themselves in my position and don't wanna pay a lot of money for repairs :)

How was my first ride?
Having only been on 500cc for my full licence test over 3 days, picking my new SV up from the dealership was very scary and being watched by the staff, my sister-in-law and nephew was making it worse - I told them to go away.
I trickled from the side road to the main road, then with the road clear I slowly pulled out and gave the throttle a little whack, for a split second I nearly had a brown-trouser moment, but within a couple of 100 yards, it was smiles all the way.
I dont have any informaiton on your fairing fix, but just to say enjoy your new ride and ride safe.

think there's a chance he might be from romania lol :) welcome to the forums mate  glad you like the sv...
My first ride on the sv = I was hit from behind by a car at about 5mph - no damage but a bit scary, then 20 mins later nearly got knocked off by a woman who went through a red light. Loved it :D

That's why I wondered; his English is better than most on here!

I went straight from a 125 to the sv, whe n i 1st got on it i thought i was laid on it as i was used to a supermoto setup with upright bars. also i had to navigate a town centre that i'd never been through before but... that exhaust note made it all worh it.... i still smile every morning when i trundle down my road @ 7.30am, bet every1 on my street hates me!!
