View Full Version : Do you ever get "Wrong" text messages

I am not talking of ones that are of a Wrong nature , I get enough of them from Paul the 6th , but ones that appear to have been meant for somebody else but have been sent to your phone instead . I got one last night
Text arrives starting with +44(and a load of numbers) so I know it`s a UK mobile and they are not on my saved numbers list .
Text is "Hiya mate , yeah I will buy it and take it off your hands"
I`m not selling anything , so this isn`t for me , my eyes Narrow and a devious streak emerges so I text back
"The price has doubled"
Two minutes later I get a reply to it
"man it ain`t worth THAT much"
I reply "It is if you don`t want me to repeat your dirty little secret"
I am yet to receive a reply :smt003
cue loads of calls from all their mates
I got a text a while back, it was extremely naughty, I assumed it was some kind of scam trying to get me to reply to it.
If it was a real one though, I'm jealous - I (I@I) can assure you Mrs Swin *never* wants me to put it there....
hahaha! had a few mistake messages, but I used to work for a mobile phone company and one of their automated numbers that we monitored would get loads of mistakes... some really embarrassing, girls replying to their boyfriends etc :shock:
My old phone used to do it all the time to me, and generally when I was so constantly tired I would text and then send it to the wrong person!
I stopped listing forum people under their forum names as well because, my friends would get curious in the pub if I left the phone on the table and ring the one with the most unusual name .......
Highly embarrassing at times!!!
oh and when they invented picture messaging :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:
I sent a text to my ex by mistake that was meant for my current gf...think, poke pie, synagogue moment.

i got a LOT of calls recently from ocean finance for a steven king. apparently the scamp had borrowed a wheelbarrow full of cash and done one, leaving my phone number...

Remninds me of a story i heard on Qi a while back. I think it was Arthur Conan Doyle, he wrote to a few friends as a joke "We have been discovered. Flee immeadiately!"
And one of his friends who he wrote to was never seen again, lol.

Yeah I get them occasionally, but no real funny ones lol.
I have, on the other hand, sent texts to a wrong number. When I first got to know Chris I thought I had his number in my phone...I sent him a text and got one back saying "Who's this?" I sent one back saying "It's Maria, from Chemistry you fool". The reply "No, not ringing any bells". I text "Haha, very funny, stop pi$$ing about". Reply "Am 35, MARRIED with a child?" To which I go OH CRAP and apologised. Hahaha how I laughed after though.

My wife had a very close friend who died of cancer. At her funeral her husband and another very good friend received texts from the deceased.
Her husband receved several more after that.
How scary is that?
well presumeably the deceased didn't take her phone with her, so not really that scary.

Probably recycled the numbers if it was on contract, or not in use... I think that's how most get the "wrong number".
Not an infinite number of x length unique digits.

I was in school at the age of 12 - 13 i think and my two mates were on each others phones one of my mates recieved a text from his mum but of course my other mate was playng with his phone... so of course he read it and also read it too me and another mate, wasnt exactly dirty but it had some thing along the lines of, "cant wait too see you tonight babe" how we laughed at him, he was rather embarased as well :D

Type "f##k you" into text message, don't look at your phone, scroll through your address book. When someone shouts stop everyone press "send"

I remember once I was with a couple of mates from Leeds. I met with a mate from Cornwall and we went up on the train (boy that was an event, what a week best week I've ever had).
He went for a crap in Tescos and came out saying there was one of those "text this number for a good time". He came out laughing his head of saying how he tested it and she texted back a picture of her tits. We ****ed ourselfs and kept talking to her, she asked how we got her number. We said we found it on the wall in a toilet and she stopped texting. :smt082:smt082

I used to get the odd message from a wrong number, but it hasn't happened in a long time. I've had the same mobile number for around the last 7 years!!
When i was 14 i had a text saying:
'Hi babes, its dave from yates. what you up to?'
I replied 'who is this?'
Then he rang me, realised i was just a kid and it dawned on him that the girl he must have pulled gave him the wrong number :D
He said 'oh sh!t' and hung up.

I thought he'd been in London visiting his brother. Unfortuantly he replied to the text I'd sent him instead of the one she'd sent.
Needless to say we are now divorced.

iv never got a wrong txt but i was with my mate about 5 years ago before i grew up:D. we were pretty drunk and was up for doing some pills and charlie. so he txt his dealer some thing like this ( hi , can you get me 4 e's and £50 worth of cocaine , got the money now on me see you soon). and then he pressed send . all of a sudden he was shouting no no no. he only sent it to his dad. his dealers name was dan and was right next to his dads name in his contacts lol. the **** really hit the fan:p

Oh LOL! Found it and spent 1/2 hour laughing! 49 pages of the stuff! Only got to page 4.
my mate sent me a text saying dude ive just woke up in her bed i though she was good lookign last night, her kid just woke me up holding a dead bird and ask me to save it. HOW MUCH DID I DRINK
I discovered that one of my daughters was cheating on her boyfriend when I got a particularly saucy text message detailing what was going to be happening the next time she met up with her man on the side.
I called her back right away and asked her if the text was meant for someone else, to which she asked what text I was on about. So I told her a few of the things i'd read in it. Then it all came out - the guy she was seeing on the side was called Dave, and his number was next to Dad in her phone's contact list. She'd obviously not hit the button one more time and sent me a text message full of the most enlightening filth I'd seen in years that was meant for someone else.
I've never let her live it down, but I did discover she's just like her mum in some respects
Right that's it i'm never gonna date anyone called Davina, Darryl or Daytona :shock:

Not long back I was out with my gf when the ex-text me asking if I was at a random gig. I told my gf about it and we decided I'd play along.
So I told her to hang around after the gig and I'd meet her.
Got a text about half 11 asking where I was and said I'd got backstage so I'd meet her outside soon.
Little while later got another text asking where I was then told her I was never there.

If this is Sam, he loves you now and I love Dan.....we've moved on so stop trying to trap him! Yes, we'll remain friends, but if you don't like it, that's your issue, not mine. You're marrying him....you need to start trusting him, he loves you!
I never mentioned it to Pete and he never mentioned it to me. If he'd written it, he'd have called me about it.....so she must have deleted it all from his phone. They were on holiday too so couldn't have been anyone else.
So sad. Lucky me though.....she's stuck with a skinhead with a short temper and I've ended up with the best bloke in the world!

On my old number i used to get calls all the time for some girl. From her friends, from her mum etc.
I used to play along sometimes but i got a bit annoyed at one of her friends who kept calling back even after i told her it happens all the time. Our phone numbers were identical but the last 2 digits were the other way round. Butthis one girl wouldn't have it and after i'd hung up on her a few times she called back saying "look you've stolen my friends phone and i dont know who you are but i'm calling the police!" So to really annoy her i said she was right...but if she dared call the cops then there would be trouble cos her friend was currently tied up in my basement.
The silence was awesome!!! :twisted:
I know that sounds really cruel but before this her mum and i used to swap messages, she call me and say "hi your friend x just called, you might wanna call em back cos theydidnt believe they had the wrong number when i answered my daughters phone. Oh and call you mum too, she left a voicemail" And i'd do the same and tell her who had called for her daughter. She'd always say, i'm glad we got each other as an answering service for people who cant dial a number right, lol.
