Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi cos you may find me hangin' around this site quite a bit! Ive only been riding 2 months (cbt march09 and bought suzuki gn125) but its become my life (oops! along with my 3 kids :)) so having ridden 2k miles in 2 months ive gone on to book my direct access training for the next fortnight, and in anticipation of excelling (lets hope so!!) i went out yesterday and bought an immaculate red SV650S, 1999, 30k miles with service history, YUM!!!:D:D:D Mad? possibly, no make that probably :), i just know that its the bike for me and i'll do whatever i now need to in order to get my licence and start clocking up some miles, bring it on!!! In the meantime, please be patient with me as some of my questions may appear stupid and obvious to you, and i apologise in advance for that, but i just want to learn everything about my bike and hopefully maintain it and ride it to the standard that it deserves!

Hello and welcome :)

I am doing the same thing. I did my CBT bit earlier than you and bought a 125 to practice on. Unfortunately not had as much practice as i would have liked as there was a factory fault with the bike and still waiting for it to be repaired by the garage :( Hope to have it back next week. I also bought a blue SV650S curvy in great conditionin with around 8000 miles on it (probably more like 9000 now as the boyfriend has been riding it) Well it sits in the garage is great encouragement to get my licence. Still not sure if I am going to go direct access as dropped GS500 twice in 1 lesson when I was doing a DAS lesson. Have another full day lesson with my instructor next weekend so will see how he feels I have progressed.
Well good luck with your test. Let me know how you get on :)

welcome.
Newbies normally get loads of grief(jokey style) about their colour and shape of SV.
We have all been told off for doing that so welcome again.lol

oh...best colour and fastest shape by the way.

The best colour for a lot of bikes IMO! Welcome to the site and good luck for the test.

PS: You'll probably do your DAS on something very friendly like a CBF500 or the like and your used to a 125 with no power. The first time you get out on the SV, it'll feel weird and a bit of a handful to control. Don't fret, you haven't bought the wrong bike, it just needs a smooth throttle hand, a nice relaxed grip and a nice relaxed you, after 100 miles it'll feel great. Very rewarding bike, but can take some time for a newbie to master a V-Twin, it's worth it though.

Hi and welcome - been riding for 20-odd years now and I think the SV has put the smile back on my face for sure!

Ralphs absolutely right, keep it smooth and steady and within 100 miles you'll be stretching the sides of your crash helmet with the grin :D
