View Full Version : Lap of the Ring from last weekend

This is Clint ( 08 Fireblade) filming me for a lap, I had to ease off a little so he could keep up but I'd only be 20 secs quicker a lap by myself. Apologies for the sound but he lost his mic halfway through the weekend. My riding isn't quite natural as I was easing up in a few places and trying to get maximum sparks for the camera (I think rotating round the track too much, more bum back head out required) , sparks which didn't always show up as Clint wasn't always close enough, although there are a few at 9:24.
Note the super quick grey and black EVO at 5:16 exiting Bergwerk, he was storming all weekend and out dragging the Blade on the straights, so must have had plenty of ponies under the hood, although we did ease off very slightly in this case to let him passed safely.

Enjoy!
And a second one where I didn't wait for him after a bit:

How has he mounted the camera? Is it in place of his headlight bulb?
BTW, not too shabby Tim!
Now, does anyone know someone who perhaps lives in Europe, not a million miles from the 'Ring?
Pete ;)
That is v cool
I think you said you use the Pug rather than the bike if it's wet, but does all the graffiti on the track not get slippy?

Lapping just under 9 minutes I guess from some of the footage, which is an average of over 85mph, top speed is in the region of 160mph indicated. A long way from what the quick guys can do (approx 7:40  on the same stock model as my bike). Tyres are BT-016s, so road tyres, got some track day tyres for later in the year... I need to get faster myself!

I use the Pug if it's damp and isn't looking like drying properly or if it's too cold/I don't have the bike. If it's properly wet I prefer to stay in bed/the bar! I think the general consensus is that the graffiti doesn't affect grip that much, especially once it's been driven over a few times. Although apparently at the Ring there's a wet weather line, not that I really fancy finding it out.
And BluePete, as for the camera mount, it's a secret ;)

Clearly behind the headlight instead of the bulb lol
