Another person on another forum has a problem with the mobile thing... just buy a normal internet connection.. this is designed for laptops in the middle of a field.

Do you know if you have at least GPRS if not 3G or preferably HSUPA signal coverage on 3? Speed depends on hardware and network speed obviously so even the latest device is useless without signal. They certainly aren't intended for use in a field if there is no coverage there! I use one at home and get 3G+. Best advice is to take it back and get one witha network that actually has a decent 3G network.

it has signal as it comes up with the bars and it actually gets on to the three site once but then freezes up and wont go back on so i have to uninstall it and reinstall to get it to do even that again which leads me to thinking maybe the dongle's knacked though im not sure.

I use a 3G mobile broadband modem (USB stick with a SIM card built into it), quite regular. In fact, I'll be using it this afternoon in a meeting.

On one bar for signal, I can pull approx an 8Mb connection out of the thing without issue.

If you're having problems, update the software to the latest version (there was one released a couple of days ago), and then talk to 3 Customer service. The error checking in the latest software is pretty decent as far as modem diagnostics goes.

Most of the blokes at work who had 3 mobile broadband have changed to either Vodaphone or T-Mobile. However one who stuck with it phoned the help line and they sent a patch which cured this problem

We have had photographers at work have lots of issues with most of the 3G cards, i think the best seems to be T-Mobile.
