Rode up to leamington from Essex today. M25>M1. Just got off the M1, went round a roundabout and felt a bit of wobble. Carried on for a bit, another roundabout, more wobble. Stopped bike and had a look around, rear tyre really flat. Didn't have too much of a look but got to nearest garage, and pumped it up just to get me home. Dumped all my gear in the house then went to bike shop to see if they could repair it. Apparently not. Bit of metal in it about 5-6mm wide and about 15mm long. God knows how it got in there. Had a new pair of Pilot Road 2s fitted about 1000 miles ago at £210ish fitted. Need a new tyre now apparently (went to another shop afterwards just to make sure they weren't being a bit over-cautious).
Things just keep going wrong with the bike, only passed it's MOT last week after brake overhaul with a sheared bolt, exhaust repack (and another sheared bolt), fuses keep going etc.
I can get a new Pilot Road 2 for £125 (ebay) plus £20 fitting, which will take a few days. Or i can get a Pilot Road 1 for £124 fitted tomorrow. I spent a bit more on tyres because i do alot of motorway miles and figured it's a good thing to spend on. I'm now wondering whether to get a cheapo one as it didn't do me any favours spending a bit on them. Is there anything cheaper that i should think about?
The actual question is: is it worth £20 for a pilot road 2 and if i get a pilot road 1 will it be an OK match with a PR2 with 1000 miles on the front?
Hope this cheers someone up anyway, your day could have been worse.
