I was at the Dyno centre today and they allowed me to take their data. I basically have a shed load of runs for all sorts of bikes of many years. If you like Ill happily post anything you want to see.

Cheers

So it seems...

Sorry Alpine star, no CB750f, nc 34 or nc35! :(

Most interesting :D Do you know what year that VFR was Greek? The step in power at 6800 rpm is very pronounced as the VTEC comes in and it more than mine 'feels'. Just wondering if it is a pre-Honda ECU tweak model.

Yes only had the 03 model... Sorry. Seems they arnt put on the dyno :(

No speed triple but got Sprint ST1050, so similar... Bandit 1200 is closest there too. Seems they aint done every bike!

That's cool, '03 were the last VTECs before Honda twiddled with the ECU to make the 'VTEC Step' less pronounced. That dyno shows why it was such an obvious lurch. Apart from that the graphs for a VTEC are nice and linear. :D

27-05-09, 01:20 PM
how acurate are they?

people will claim silly BHP and also forget how much is lost to the back wheel, and claim more at the back wheel than the crank

i know for a fact that some dyno centers are upto 10BHP over just for bragging rights

ThEGr33k

Yes DIN correction RWHP. Stock bike. Considering the CC's look at it vs the 954 blade!!! Same peak power (or close as damn it).

There is one with pipe airbox, mod, air filter and PC3 putting down 132BHP... 4bhp worth it?

Well looking at the numbers for DIN correction they sound about right. I agree thought that crank BHP is a load of rubbish, utterly useless. At least RWHP take into effect all losses through the Gearbox etc.

Crank HP would benefit the big Twins as they have heavy gearboxes to deal with two bix power pulses where 4cylinders have 4 smaller ones so can use lighter boxes.

Tell you what is shocking. Sprint ST 955i (only one bike been tested so could be a bad bike?) only puts down 88BHP!?!?!?!?! Id have hoped for at least a 100! Daytona 955i is only putting down 114bhp. Sigh.

Id imagine about 33bhp at the wheel. A/F will be terrable, cant say how bad but BAD!

Torque id imagine would be about 25ftlb...

I think it might be, there are a few SPS, but this is just under 996, same power as the SPS's though... heh. Still, tis good power.

Not really is it...

I'd say that depends how the power is being delivered, it's not all big number.

By that analogy I'd say that knowing the RWHP would be even more important.

Also, a physically large and strong gearbox is not necessarily inefficient. It will have a lot of inertia, but a dyno run is pretty close to steady state conditions when you think about the inertia of the gearbox shafts and cogs compared to the inertia of a heavy back wheel, tyre, crank and half a tonne of solid steel dyno roller!

RWBHP is the only meaningful measurement. Anything else is "numbers down the pub"
