We appear to have a mouse, I know this as it just ran in front of me! Telly is on me and mrsH were talking and the lights were on, so this is obviously a kick-ass type of mouse that is scared of nowt!

So what's best? Shotgun?

Had one of those ultra-sonic things plugged in at the time so that's not working!!!

Cat's are bloody useless, you never seen Tom + Jerry?

choclate is the best here with a trap or if your intending to redecorate anyway the shotgun is far more satisfying

How could you... no animal is cuter... :smt049Wrong! Cats are just wrong, they only want to know you when they are hungry!

So maltesers crushed up in with some B&Q poision! Can't believe it came right in with the lights on and that.

We had some at work.

Put down some neck breaking style traps with some Galaxy Triple as bait. Next day we had caught two!

These work really well, use cat biscuits as bait

Need to check every few hours though so mouse doesn't dehydrate, then drive AT LEAST 3 MILES in a circuitous route so the little devil doesnt find his way 'home' :smt013

Oooo my suggestion.

Burn cheese if you know where its hiding, will definately make it come out, and have the rifle/shotgun/bb gun pointing at the hole ;)

Or just drown the little fecker....or use an good old fashioned style mouse trap.

If you want to know where it is coming from fill a dinner plate with rice and put some cheese in the middle, in the morning you'll have no cheese and a wee trail of rice, then you can fill in the hole.

And you know there is never just one mouse....they have family...

Sticky pads work a treat, but not if you have pets or kids.

For goodness sake, don't use a cat...

I used to live in a rented flat that had mice, when I bought my house, I decided to get cats (partly so I'd never have problems iwth mice again).

Now the buggers go outside, catch mice, and bring them in to show me. Even worse, they get bored, lose them in the house (still very much alive) and go back out again

I agree with earlier posters, the best bait is chocolate - just get a packet of cadburys buttons and bait a trap with one of those and eat the rest (buttons, not mice). Mind your fingers tho.

Our cat brings us mice, but he keeps the heads for himself - apparently it's to show how much they love you :)

Little Nippers, baited with chocolate - that's how I caught the last one in my house - next door's garden is so overgrown that there are loads of them

I used White Rabbits humane trap when I discovered the little blighters had invaded my garage as they had got wise to the little nippers. They would let one commit suicide and then the rest would nick the bait.

Cheap option is to incline an old fashioned milk bottle with some bait balanced on the top. Mouse knocks bait into bottle and then climbs in to get to bait and cannot get out. Doesn't starve to death so you get the fun of teaching pups how to start their rating careers.

Bring it down mate, I was saying to the mrs that a snake would soon sort it, she looked thrilled (read petrified) at the idea. The kids would love it.

I have studied this scenario and having used my experience I now feel that I can add my input. :---)

Firstly make sure that you do not have a black and white cat or a Bull Terrier. The mouse will always form an alliance with the Dog and use underhand tactics to cause the cat to run into said dog. The dog will then punch the cat until it is crooked and has two black eyes. :eye:

Also do not leave a frying pan lying around, it will end up with either an impression of the mouse or the cats face in the bottom due to either animal using it as a weapon. :smt081

Finally, do not use milk as bait. The mouse will fall in the milk and go a deathly shade of white. It will then approach the cat who will assume that the mouse is a spirit returned from the heavens and will start to repent. This ends with the cat shivering in fear outside and the mouse raiding your fridge and making a giant sandwich that consists of everything from your fridge, usually topped off with a Turkey leg. :smt017

Your best bet is to totally knock down your house, then when the mouse is left standing on a small column of bed rock and your house is in ruins, you can shoot the Fecker! :smt070

I hope that this is of help to you. :smt038

Chocolate is good for attracting mice but is actually poisonous to them.

Wild mice ARE a pain - I agree on a cat not being an answer - ours hasn't brought a mouse in, but he DID once bring a rat......

Try and catch and release them tho - nothing wrong with mice - we have 4 as pets :)

Friends had a barn owl they raised from young.
It brought them live mice etc. & dropped them on their pillow at dead of night.
They got used to it!

You need a Jack Russell. It wont kill the mice, but will persuade them that living elsewhere is far easier and better for them.

:-k
Place some sort of bait on a plate.
Push some large nails and broken glass into a wooden baseball bat.
Wait by plate.
When mouse approaches plate, administer a tap to the top of mouses head with said bat.
Clean up mess with hoover/dustpan & Brush/Spatula.
find new plate and reset with bait.
Repeat as above until all mousies are ickle lickle deady bones!
Drink large crate of beer, use baseball bat to administer discipline to group of Hoodies/Chav Scum/W.I. Meeting.

Cat brought in a live one once.
It lived under the kitchen cupboards for three days without us noticing. Must have got damn hot under the oven when it was on!
Wondered why the cats sat on the glass top of the oven looking down, and the dogs admiring its reflection in the door!

Needless to say, i got a humane trap, and put some peanut butter in it. Had to pull out the washer from its very awkward place, and placed it behind.
The little toad got in the trap, ate the peanut butter and scampered back off to its centrally heated new home. Little ****.
So I wedged a plastic jug at the side of the washer, one that I could see through. Two minutes later it climbed in, I scooped it up, and put it in the field behind the house. Job Jobbed. I ripped the kitchen out not long after, and rearranged it....just in case theres a next time.
