have you tried tapping all the keys individually? sounds dumb I know but my lappy does the same thing if I leave it for a while. It goes into like an idle mode i think its my enter key that brings it out of it.

i will try that-- me thought it may have gone in to hibernate.. but i thought hitting return wudda sorted that out.. me will try .
Quiff, what laptop is it? (Manufacturer & model).
Chances are it's hibernating (green/orange combination is hibernation on Toshiba's IIRC). But without knowing what laptop it is, it's a little tricky to tell you how to wake it up again. :)
If it is hibernating, it's pretty safe to press & hold power for 5 secs, this will turn it off completely (all lights except the AC will go off). Then just hit power again to turn it on. :)
turn it upside down and see if there is a tiny reset hole underneath that you can stick a tooth pick or opened out paperclip into, this happen'd on my Compaq...
hths Bud..
Another suggestion: unplug it from the mains, take the battery out, wait for about 30secs, then put it all back and try again.
