Just wondering if anyone knows what this is and what it's for. Came with my bike (SV1000) in a bag with the pillion seat. Had the seat on and the cowl on but no idea what this is for;

looks like some sort of number plate/indicator mounting thingy. does it have an aftermarket tail tidy fitted?

It does yeah, however this part is fairly heavy, I'd of thought that type of thing would be fairly light, I had a Motrax one before and it was like a feather compared to this!

Maybe thats why its in a bag rather than on the bike :-)

It might be a mounting bracket for a rack. Check the hole mounting centres with those under the seat for the grabrail.

I'd guess that as a mounting rack or something... as madness says really.

Yep it is, I had an identical one come with my SW Motech rack, sorry I didn't see the thread earlier, hey ho, bonus points to those that identified it though, its not obvious, took me a little while to work out how to fix it too as I had no instructions :)
