View Full Version : Central London is Chaos Today!
It is worse than normal today, there are people running out from everywhere. I feel sorry for any road user as these pedestrains are mental and taking no prisoners...........
There are millions of the buggers!

I Love it!
I get to play dogems on the way to work which really livens my day up, and I like to think I do the same for them as I'm nice like that!
Had to stop and nod one of them across though as I recognised him of the telly! can't remember his name though, let me see if I can find him on wiki :)
It's the doubled up number of cyclists that are getting my goat as they block filter routes.

Fun, isn't it :)
What are you doing in Central London anyway? :)

Those lazy feckers that will only get the bike out when the tube shuts down eh?

Goes to show just how much the Tube is used. TBH I think the strikes are unfair & selfish, how much more money do they want? Im sure they demand a pay-rise every year.
They should be glad they have a job and a decent wage unlike some people who are out of job...Even though I dont use the tube often, it really gets on my nerves. Especially in this current econimical climate where money is short. But what do I know

Can't you just fit a snow plow to the front of the bike and clear the way in front? It was a bit of nghtmare getting out last night, nearly missed the North Bound train out of there. Even on a normal day the tube is c*** with lines being closed casue they can't keep it working. Then now they want more for that!

I know! they earn 40k to sit on their asses and push go/stop open/close 0_o.
And they want a Garuntee of no redundancies, no lay offs, and rejected an above inflation pay rise, AND They want staff that were sacked for theft, opening doors on the wrong side of the train etc re-instated?
In any environment those are crazy demands, given the current status and the fact they are already hugely over paid (and get free travel for them and their families for life, something that drains a HUGE % of my yearly sallary as a PERK) is just disgusting.
Shut the damn tube down for a year if that's what it takes to oust these lazy crazy ass hats, I mean who do they think they are, MP's?

Exactly. Its greed, thats what it is. And because they are using us innocent people as tools & making us suffer, thats why they will get their own way. And dont get me started on MP's

Its especially sickening when everyone I know is getting the same "due to economical circumstances there will be no pay review this year" ******** at work.
Even worse is when they prefix it by commenting on how some companies are making people take pay cuts to try and make you feel that they are doing you a favour, while ignoring that everyones bills have gone up.....

There is a very good reason for me not to venture out, however since it was last minute being home I don't have any food, so I will have to at some point.

If you'd splattered him... you'd be famous at least :o
I don't watch the news or read it for that matter very often (it depresses the hell out of me), so I didn't know what it was all about.
The greedy b&st&rds, sack them all and get some people re-trained to drive trains and put them on a no strike contract.
They are holding the whole of London to ransome.

Cant do that, you have the Union to deal with mate......
But yeah, with the number of unemployed out there at the moment you could probably even cut the wage level and replace them all......
Can we bring back Maggie to smash the RMT?
£40k for such a low skill job is unbelievable. Can we get some Eastern Europeans in? They'd do a good job & they'd be on time too!
I'm impressed by the alternatives that have been laid on today by tfl...and it's good that some tube lines have a "normal" service despite the RMT's strike action.
Come to think of it doess't normal service actually mean, delays & overcrowding anyways. Will we notive a difference? ;o)

True, I'm still living in hope he makes a passing mention to it on any of the many comedy shows he guests on, you know how comedians use anything for material =p.
Me and a friend got pointed out during a Lee Evens show in wembley many years back but they didn't include that bit on the DVD :(

I'd say fine, bye! lots of people out of work who would happily take half that and the free travel perks to replace ya!

I have nothing but admiration for the RMT.One of the few unions who will stand up for the interests of their members.Id join them tomorrow if they were relevant to where I work.I heard their leader Bob Crow debating the issue with Boris Buffoon on Radio Four this morning and I have to say Bob accused Boris of pulling a deal that solved this dispute late yesterday.Boris didnt deny it but only blustered on in his usual way about what a damn nerve working people have standing up for themselves.
If only I belonged to a union with such damn cheek.

GTBH I think the strikes are unfair & selfish,
plus many other great quotes that could have been picked in the thread! It's a bit right leaning in here!
Still, I guess the strike's having an effect then ;)
As for selfish, people don't strike for fun. You don't earn any money for a start and being as that's something they're striking for...
Heard a great quote on the radio this morning from a right of centre economist: "they (the strikers) should reaise we're all in this together"
The low paid weren't 'in it together' when the rich were getting richer.
There. That's my contribution. Think I'll disappear to avoid the right wing flaming now.

I dont actually have a problem with workers having rights, but to demand 5% (so an extra £2k in wages) of a pay-rise in the current climate is having a laugh.
Also it seems that more and more the strikes are over some idiot getting sacked for something they should have been sacked for, but the Union not accepting it.
So purely selfish on their parts.

My understanding is that this dispute was effectively settled yesterday afternoon, until Boris Buffoon overuled his managers and decided to take them on and teach the RMT a lesson.Id like to see the whole story come out,but it wont because Boris is a media man,and they will only print his version.
As for the sackings dont start me on that.If the railway is anything like my workplace experiences it will be a haven for inadequate bullying managers who get promotion by getting people disciplined or sacked, often settling personal grudges in the process.Strong unions are the only way to combat this,as the law fails utterly in the real world.
Good luck to them if they are standing up to that sort of thing
How do you get a job on the tubes anyway? I want one!

I don't know much about the reasons given for the strike, but if the reports of starting salaries of £40k for tube drivers and £29k for platform attendants is true, and that they are requesting increases to this, I'm afraid I don't support them.
I'm all up for unions if used in the right way (although I do question, realistically, how much they are needed what with the rules and regulations available to employees today), but it seems as if this is a corrupt union. The salaries mentioned above are more than equal, so IMO there is no 'fighting for financial equality' here.
Apparently (French guy next to me who commutes from France once a week) in France they cannot strike fully in this way - they have to keep a skeleton service running. "What happens if they don't?" I asked..."they get fired" comes the reply!
It's not right to hold the public to ransom in this way, it's the same as the old "kill 100 to save 1000" dilemma. You can't justify the taking of life in that way, similarly you can't justify affecting the 'innocent public' in this way either.
ahhhhh about the yearly visit to youtube for the London underground song coming on then ;)

Actually I dont think that we had consensus amongst the mods that we were going to relax it in that way.
So as your links arent in keeping with the U rating I have removed them.

Hmmmm, nice way to put words in my mouth SK.
What i actually said was in defence of a somethng i posted in the joke thread that had some bad language in it. The point i made there was that the link was only to Youtube and not a page with any XXX banners or ads on it and that the reason i posted the vid was to show the behaviour of a heckler. that was followed by the comedian saying 1 or 2 rude words about the heckler in question and the reason for my post was not his bad language.
I've also said that its down to thee section Mod to deal with the link if they feel its innapropriate, which seems to have been the case here.
i defended my own post before, not encourgaed other to go about posting non u-rated links here there and everywhere. Just so its clear.
