View Full Version : Name the baby comp
You had better not go into labout at the AR.
Cant be good for the kid either way.
Aparently any girls born in an Essex hospital will have to be named Brittney, Chardonnay or Jade, the choice of names for boys isn't much better........
And if they happened to be born in the field, imagine if you had to give them the name of the person who helped deliver them - fine if its Melody, but can you imagine their embarrasment at "Sid Squid", or even Bear :)
i really hope i don't go into labour then

cool have washed the moses basket bedding etc, got a few vests and sleepsuits that are unisex that no longer fit kitkat chunky mini. Steriliser available too as we have stopped sterilising bottles, no point as she is shoving everything she can get a hold of into her mouth, including the dog lol

Ah but you know that Dazza comes with Darren and Gazza with Gary. OK maybe not.. can't see our red tart of the GM being a Gazza. Hmmm
Michael gets my vote.
not sure to be honest my nephew is called Michael but we shall see
thats one of problems working in schools, you associate names with kids.
ryan - 6 year old from hell that nearly had all staff handing in notice
sam - wuss whose dad walked him to school and kissed him at gate when he was 12
sean - irish (like ex hubby)
michael - what i would have been called if i had been a boy
thomas - the tank
lol saying that they all go with surname. considering its a strange surname (no offence meant) most names go with it.

David is always a good name :)
For some reason shortening it to Dave almost always gets a good response from people - not many people have had a bad experience with a Dave, which is a fact I exploit from time to time.
I was always David when I was at home - well it made sense so as not to get confused with my dad - who was Dave :) - oh and my Grandad on my dads side was also a David :)
See, a cracking name :)

Awww be nice!! Poor T, I dont envy you in this task.
Did you want something traditional or something new and exciting?
If all else fails remember what I said at the BBQ...
Can never be as bad as naming the child where it was conceived....'Paris, Brooklyn'
And then there was always the hippie Phoenix family...River, Leaf...etc, I would not be a happy girl (excuse the pun) 'growing' up called LEAF!!
Did you have a look at that website I sent you, they are Traditional names with meanings, some are quite good.

I think that a first name needs to flow with the surname so as no surname is mentioned a bit unfair to criticize or suggest.

i can't argue with that but as most of the people that have already commented know me they know my surname, which is Hooper

I'm a strong believer that the name that you give your kids will influence their personality. Don't call your kid Quentin or Roderick, he won't thank you for it in later life. I'd go for something fairly traditional and a name that can easily be shortened. Johnathon, David, Michael, Christopher, Stephen etc. If you want some thing unusual, I'd keep it for the middle name.

Ryan- hear way too many chavvy teenagers shouting that round here, defo on the chav list.
Thomas- the tank- but Tom is cool for short
Michael- bit old fashioned- Micks an old blokes name
Sam- ok-but you call a dog that.
My sons called Dylan Connor. Dylan was a very uncommon name seven years ago, but now every horrid tart calls their kid that:( People always think I named him after Bob, or Thomas, but no the magic roundabout:cool:

If Libby had been a boy she would have been Scot (because I am one)
Connor's middle name is James after my grandad
I like traditional boys names. I think girls can get away with stupid names easier than boys. But always think about what the name will be shortened.
Prize - win the baby? lol

i do agree with you about traditional names but we'll see we need to narrow it down a bit now but i guess we still have time :-s
yeah loads of time. know lots of people that had picked names. took one look at baby (once the gunk was cleaned off it) and changed their mind as baby didnt look like the name they had picked. saying that babies dont look particularly good when first born - most would be called ET if named immediately after birth (not referring to eviltwin either)
