At Clydebank College. Any of the westies fancy it?
They MAY not do it this year due to lack of interest, so please 'phone to enquire about it mid-August and register your interest.
Think it costs around fifty quid for an evening course
Thanks guys

I did similar in edinburgh last year with a couple of others from the forum. It was informative, although basic stuff (ajusting chain, changing oil, measuring tyre pressure, sparkies, servicing etc) but we were playing around with suspension and small engines towards the end.

I'd say it was worth it as I got a massive discount, not sure if I would have paid full price for it as I'd done most of it before. In saying that I think it is probably well worth it for people starting out in biking or people wanting to learn to do a basic service on thier own bike

Yeh I did it last year. I think they are in the middle of a course just now.

Are you on taysidebikers.co.uk ? If you are then pm Towbar (Kris) He runs the course.

this is something I really should do despite the OH being a mechanic...

there is currently a debate on whether my chain needs oiled and tightened. One biker says aye the other says naw. *confused*

Should be 25-35mm of free play up and down. Never can have enough oil on your chain.. get a scottoiler or have fun on your hands and knees every 150 miles or so in all weathers.. ;)

It definitely needs done then...

Off to the garage with me this week... or home with the oil!

@ fenjer. get a scottoiler. once fitted all you do is top the bottle up... i havent adjusted my chain in 3000 miles and its still the same tightness it was then.

my chain need tightened constantly, then again I do tend to be harsh with the throttle :P. I also have a scottoiler

yer chain is on the way out then m8... or the scottoiler is not feeding enough oil to the chain (blocked nozzle at sprocket) the chain should be 'wet' if it looks dry its not right...
