I've never stripped on the drive before, but today, the neighbours were peeking around ther net curtains as I got butt nekkid!
That's all the plastics off the bike. Something I've not seen before on my own machine, and it's quite cool to see how it's all packaged together. It wasn't easy, took a couple of hours to do right but still managed to snap a few of those pesky mini-clips with the daft plastic rivet in the middle.
The reason? The bike is have a new paint-job. Dropping the bits off tomorrow. I'm on nights and don't use the bike to commute for that shift. Picking the bits up next weekend. I'm dreading having to put it all together, there's a box of bits and a tub full of fastners I din't label! Plus, the new paint CANNOT be scratched #-o

Its easy enough to put it all back together, just remember to sort out the seat lock mechanism right:study:...thats why I always have a YC around:p

It looks cool when it's all stripped like that, especially when you take off the clock subframe so you just see the forks at the front
What colour scheme are you getting?
Pete, it took you a few hours to take all the plastics off?
And are you respraying all the plastics/tank?
how much for a full re spray?

Yep, couple of hours, as I said, never done it before, so took my time.
It's a whole bike respray, I'm not saying the colour, you'll just have to wait!
Cost? Not as much as I thought, including mending the dented tank, cracked lower fairing, damaged rear plastics and a few other bits, £500. hats not for a smple colour either. Not race rep, just something special ;)

Piece of p1ss! Fairing nuts out, screen off, then the mirrors, the whole lot pops off!
Stop tempting me. :)
I will be doing this sometime, how long will the plastics/tank take to get sprayed/powdercoated?

A week or so. No rush, I want it done properly, not quickly.
The guy I'm using showed me a GSXR side panel he had just finished fixing and re-spraying back to original. It had been smashed to bits and was the black colour with the matt and shiny finish on it. I couldn't tell which was original factory finish, and which was the repair until I looked at the back of the panel

Get those footpeg hangers off and get em powedercoated Black as well Pete , it`s my main gripe with the Blackened running Gear of those bikes , everything in Shexxayy Black apart from the footrests ...... grrrrrr .

When i had SV1000 I lost count of the times I stripped her Naked. In the end I could do it in my sleep.

Looks alright that, if it is a glittery jobbie. Looks like your sticker is actually not just a sticker for the SV bit. Burgundy glittery sorta thing?

Finally, after three days and many, many layers of polish and polymer top coat and Venture shield (the 3M version) and trying to remember which bloody bolt and fastener went where, pointy blue has it's new clothes. The colour is very subtle, I'll leave it to you to decide exactly what the colour is. I cant decide.
These pics don't do the depth of shine justice. It's like looking into a pool of black oil, with a hint of something else.

I love it, the paint was mixed just for me, there hasn't been one like it before apparently. The 3M film is briliant, it's applied very wet with alcohol spray to activate the glue. I bought a sheet and cut my own templates.
The one bit I do like is the triangular piece between the rear fairings and the frame. It's been painted the same colour as the rest of the fairings and it creates a real flow from the front to the rear of the bike.
The peg hangers have been powder coated for £10, with 3M shield on the heel plates. As said before, it finishes it off well.
Now to decide which new can to get, as well as sourcing some GSXR mirrors with indicators to go with the new rear light and indicator from a KTM RC8r I managed to get for £50 :D The indicators alone are £55.80 each plus VAT. However, a KTM speacialist had an entire tail unit taken from a race bike they just wanted shot of. Should have been the best part of £250, but after a chat, £50 posted. bargain and I love the look of it. I need a new number plate 'cos mine is full of holes from the number of different tails I have made! (On that note, it'll be a £60, three points fine for illegal plates after July 1st)

Mmm - that colour looks good. Is it pearlescent, ' cos in some pictures it looks black, and others a kind of mahogany colour

Ta! It is a pearl, but with a silver metal flake red mixed into the black to give that finish insted of a red pearl over the top of black.
