There is a story to it. Basically you can't remember anything and you have to find out stuff by consuming particular people to get their memories. The story line according to the game buffs is the weak point but the gameplay is awesome.

The video on the game is basically a big massive battle in which you have your own mission inside of it which is to consume the battle commander. Of course you keep getting shot and mauled by either helicopters, tanks or some infected things called hunters.

The rest of the game however you need to change your tactics slightly, there are sometimes where you need in infiltrate a military base by shape shifting into the base commander so stealth is the name of the game.

There are sometimes where if you spend too long fighting a strike force is called who will not give up until you destroy the helicopters following you.

There are other little mini missions where you have to free run from checkpoint to checkpoint to earn experience points and upgrade your skills.

Some people have said something about it being like Assasins Creed but the only similarity I can see is the free running. Maybe I am missing something??

Sounds like a sandbox hack and slash with some sneaky bits thrown in... Not my cup of tea.

Doesn't look as special as Assasins Creed, nor as cool as Mirrors Edge. IMO.

I've seen a few trailers for it on youboob and have to say it looks pretty interesting (didn't like Mirror's Edge at all, think it actually GAVE me a fear of heights! :smt078 )

Any game where your character can piledrive a tank to smithereens from thirty storeys up gets my vote!

The big question is - is it better than Crackdown? Because Crackdown was the daddy, especially when you do a co-op time trial on psychotic. I've had gun battles lasting over an hour, trying to ascend (ahem) Wang's tower.

Both Eurogamer and IGN give it 7/10... from the sound of things the enemy has massive sploitz to ensure you are constantly facing a wall of bullets/rockets and endlessly respawning enemies. Also, it seems the draw distance sucks (not a good thing in an open world game) and the textures look crap.

Remember in Crackdown the first time you managed to climb to the top of the Agency tower? The view was amazing, especially as you could still pick out individual cars and people. Not even GTA4 has topped this, as when you go really high these MS Flight Sim 4-style collections of moving dots appear on the road to represent 'traffic'... except they're evenly spaced and pass through each other.

I think one of the main points of the game is that the density of New York is mimiced in the game. The population turn into the 'infected' and spill out onto the streets. The amount of enemies is also proportional to the amount of military so there are lots there.
I don't think the point of the game is to defeat everyone, it's to exist and survive alongside the Chaos and killing who you can earns you extra points.
If you think about it noone is going to be able to defeat an entire city of military and infected so it would be more ridiculous if there where only a fixed amount of enemies in the free roam part of the game.

Assassin's Creed was really reptitive completed and sold it, now my 360 is gone as I needed the funds and needed the space.

Prototype looks pretty good though
