Love 'em (as long as I don't have to ride very far at the time);)
I agree. It's been going on since about 7 - absolutley amazing. Some of the lightening stikes have been huge!
And the air feels washed clean now. Love it

We had the it over here in brum / solihull around 4-5pm, my missus got soaked, hailstones and everything.
i have been to florida a few times but never again would i go in the summer months, in 2003 i went in main two weeks and we had a 2-3 hour storm every day for 2 weeks, even closed some parks while we were in them.

Stuck between Dunmow and Braintree and they're all around me, fantastic!
Was very impressed that the police heli was still flying over manchester this evening. But I guess it has to watch the approaches from Liverpool.... :D
Thats probably what i could hear in Kent then! it was fookin loud and the sound was about 15 - 20 seconds long, but it was all sunny
here.
EDIT: Should of seen the post time xD

Absolutley love them except for the one time about 10 years ago at a site near J6 of the M25, running about the big clearing (about a mile in diamater) when the sky went black, this was followed by a fantastic (looking back on it) bolt of forked lightning hitting a tree at the clearing's edge.
Then it dawned upon me (and the other 12 or so folks there) that being dressed in chainmail, in the middle of a clearing, in a thuinderstorm, was really, really, not nice.
I dont think i have run so far, so fast before or since in my life!

Yep. Got thunderered, lightninginged and deluged at whilst replacing my rear brake pads. But thoroughly enjoyed it.
Especially when I got changed into dry clothes.
Last year, I headed out to meet the GM one evening. It just started as we were finishing and leaving. Then had the most spectacular ride back on the A246. Multiple flashes across the otherwise pitch black horizon. Was amaaaaazing! Bit scary in the dark in that "aim left of the headlights" kind of way, but the storm was one of the most stunning I've experienced. The first time I've seen a bolt come out of the sky nearby (couple of hundred metres).

Back home in Devon, we used to head over to Ilfracombe in the storms, massive waves hitting the pier and the lightning bouncing off the cliffs...happy days :)

I'm gutted, after the promise of a good storm all we got was a pattering of rain. :(

It just rumbled a bit here, nothing much really i was looking foward to a goos storm. When I was in NY State a few years back one of mates was like....dude come out here the light is green.
The light went very green, at the point I though WTF!! Got everyone inside just before it opened up, was an awesome storm, we were in a wood built cabin that rocked in that storm. But I have seen some awesome storms when I have been in the US.

Well, you lose at Top Trumps, thedonal
Stebel Nautilus scores 3, Thunder scores 10
OSRAM Nightbreakers scores 2, Lightning scores 10
At boarding school in Kent roof being fixed with scaffolding all round
Struck by lightning which lit up iron bed frames like neon tubes - very nasty smell but not a single scorch mark
Still cannot forget thunder and lightning whilst on holiday in US. Standing on rim of Grand canyon watching light show on opposite rim absolutely stunning.

Time to make you a little jealous then. I lived in Tenerife for a while and one apartment i rented was right on the beach in a tall block. I was on the 7th floor with a balcony overlooking the sea.
One night on the horizon we could see some "sparks", clearly they were lightning but it was so far away it looked like sparks, lol.
So we moved the sofa round to face the sliding doors to balcony and just watched. I was very slow moving at first and as it got closer it just got more and more intense.
As it passed over head the road outside was almost flooded and i saw people running for cover, it was the strongest but shortest lasting storm i have ever witnessed.
Wish i'd had a video camera to tape it as even thinking of it now is making me a little goose pimply

I think they may be talking a roll call to see who's still alive and who dies of a heart attack when the big booming noises came again, lol.
the best lightning storm i have ever seen was crossing the forth road bridge. the lightning was dancing off the rail bridge every second or 2 it was a sight to behold... it was that good the traffic came to a standstill as everyone watched the light show.. it was also hitting the road bridge right above our heads but the best was defiantly the rail bridge.

Took my boyfriend over to South Africa in November last year to meet my Dad and there was a really spectacular one.
My Father's house is up on a hill and the view is amazing, we sat on the verandah and watched it.
My boyfriend said he has never seen a storm like it, I just love a Tropical storm after a hot day.
Jans: +1 the birds singing afterwards.
