Hmmmmm, I'm sincerely hoping that the parents are breeding, otherwise what the hell is a one week old puppy doing being taken for a walk in the garden.
I agree, an innocent and thanks to the good outcome quite cute story really. Kids have such a funny sense of logic!

haha, when it comes to kids and dogs....this just goes to show, you shouldn't only not leave them unsupervised for the childs safety....lol
The big questin for me is why was a 4year old allowed to touch an extremely delicate 1 week old puppy.
4 year olds are not well known for being the most delicate when handling things.

Yup....that's why I mentioned it in my first post. A one week old pup should not be away from mum. I think the article has this wrong. A one week old pup wouldn't be able to go for a walk in the garden unless it was being carried. Still, the RSPCA were involved, so I'm sure they'll have addressed this!
It's the old adage... never assume malice when stupidity will suffice.
Poor little doggy. So glad they got him out though - how many parents would have just given up? Once something's been flushed you just assume its gone.

Why have the RSPCA not removed the puppy to a more suitable home (one in which responsibility for looking after the puppy is not delegated to a 4 your old)?

I think it's a case of people 'not thinking'. I've got to agree that it was stupid of the parents to leave a puppy that young alone with a 4 year old. I'm sure that the kid didn't know it was doing wrong. Why was the puppy not with it's mother and the rest of the litter though?
