View Full Version : iPhone 3.0 software
anyone know whenbthis is actually going to be availible for downloading?? everything I've seen has said the 17th of June but it's still not being offered for downloading.
is there a delay? or is it really just the 17th in America at a time that suits them?

Was trying to fid that out also but couldn't find it anywhere. Why 6pm? thats just silly.!!!
because they want it released in America first so i guess thats the time it gets released there seeing as they are several hours behind us.
I've downloaded it but, very helpfully, it won't complete. Guess the servers are too busy. So for the time being I don't have a working phone. Excellent..

I did mine. Seems okay. Need to figure out how to do this tethering thingy.
Have you got a 3g iPhone now Chris?
Mine has installed on the phone, but itunes just comes up with "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was reset."
Grrrr.

Yeah got the 3G on now :( wasn't happy about it but hey.
Did you update iTunes also? I think its now 8.2 for this update.
Just found out this tethering thing is a proper con.
Ehh what's tethering? I've heard of it but can't remember what it is :p
More interested about using it as a satnav.

if you jailbreak there is an app called pdanet on cydia that allows tethering without o2's bolt on charges ;)
of course i have just heard this never done it in the flesh :p
Mine has finally activated. I hope tomtom or garmin bring out a proper satnav app. Maps is useless in that respect, as far as I can see.
It won't work for me either, says server not available. Lame
It's assisted gps not independent so it'll never be great, it's fine for what it is which is a helpful map!
well my phone just crashed, plugged into iTunes to restore/reboot that crashed and it's bloody reset to march!!! ahhhhh I don't even know what I might have lost

I won't be updating, already jailbroken running PDAnet for tethering/3g modem - works a treat when signal is good :)

Mine updated fine, took a few attempts to register, I assume because the servers are flat out atm.
Keep trying.

Yep, it is expensive. Like £30 a month.
And data roaming too - £2.64/MB in Europe and £6/MB rest of world. Nuts.
I like the new OS - subtle changes to the upright keyboard ahev made it much easier to use and landscape texting is great.

I was biding my time and waiting for the right moment - Was tempted by
"Steve Jobs only loves Americans" with regards to the 6pm thing.
Or commenting on how it should be easy enough to connect a Bluetooth GPS module to the iPhone for satnav.........
As for Tuesday, should be free, I'll drop the missus off at home then head up into town - should be there by 7, will decide on the night whether to bring the bike or slum it on the tube and have beer :),
