A teenager has had 56 stars tattooed on her face after apparently falling asleep in the tattooist chair-she reckons she asked for 3...

I heard this on the radio, and it made me think....how the hell could anyone sleep while having their face tattooed?

I mean, it's hardly a reassuring little tickle is it?

I read this in the paper today. I think she was just p!ssed up, didn't fall asleep and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

In what I read in the paper she liked them, looked in the mirror various times during the sitting and only didn't let them when she got home and her b/f & Dad said something to her.

Why anyone would want any stars tattoo on there face is beyond me?!

I know many people who have fallen asleep during tattoo sessions. BUT these are people who have many hours of work done, so are soo used to it they fall asleep, usually when its on their back.

Theres no way this lass would fall asleep, as it appears this was her first, so she'd have been pretty nervous to say the least.
Saying that, looking at the guy who did it, I think he got carried away, judging by how much his own face has been done!

What sort of reputable tatooist would work on somebody whilst they were drunk in the first place. Surely working on somebody who is drunk leads to precisley this kind of scenario, just asking for trouble really isnt it.

Most places state that if you are drunk then they won't tattoo you (in the UK anyway). Partly because of this and partly because alcohol thins the blood. Obviously putting needles in your skin makes you bleed so...

I think she's changed her mind-he has no incentive to do that, he runs a shop, and obviously tattoos lots of people. If she was drunk I doubt he'd have done it, it also mentions a language problem- personally if I couldn't be 100% sure, I wouldn't be getting tattooed abroad for that reason.

Few reputable ones agree to do face/neck work too. The guy was asking for trouble but I can't help but think she got ****ed made a bad and when her dad kicked off started on the porkies

I have been known to doze off after about 2 hours or so through boredom:(

You answered your own question.

Most decent artists wont work on anyone who has had a drink or had a skinfull the night before because it thins the blood and excessive bleeding ruins the tattoo:(

Not only that but a reputable one in this country will ask someone for ID. Yes i know this lass was 18, but to me she looks younger, so if she approached a reputable tatooist, they'd refuse until she could prove she was of age.

Sily girl.

It is unlikely that you could sleep through facial tattoos.

The artist says she was awake, fully aware of what was going on, got up and looked in the mirror about half way through the session, and other people in the shop at the time will act as witnesses.

Seems that maybe she got home, daddy was not at all impressed, and she made up the story. She seems silly enough to believe that getting them removed will be easy (but expensive), rather than expensive & painful & will probably leave her with scars on her face.

What a sad day for any tattoo artist, as if it isn’t a trade that is judged enough already!

This is one very, very stupid girl and a very stupid tattooist!

Any reputable tattooist anywhere will not do tatīs whilst a person is under the influence of drink or drugs, and to be honest as a first tattoo on the face I think this is a serious misjudgement on the behalf of the tattooist for doing it.

lukemillar
17-06-09, 10:05 PM
I think it's bullsh!t!

What I don't understand, is (as anyone who has a tat will know) they stencil the image to you before they put needle to skin so you can see how it looks, whether it's in the right place etc.

Even if she fell asleep, I don't see how they could have stenciled 56 stars to her face, her saying "awesome" and then conking out in the chair for the real thing! Unless she was so paggered (note. MYC ;) ) that she was seeing double/triple - whatever 18 times the actual number is

Not me, I was bad enough around the elbow...

The bones are pretty close to the surface and the skin is quite thin in many of the places she's had the stars. Even if she was monumentally fecked out of her mind I still can't believe that the bloke would have put his business/licence/reputation at risk to do it.

She's done something mind-bogglingly stupid, panicked at the reactions of her nearest and dearest and tried to cover-up her idiocy by blaming someone else for her mistake. The artist could lose his livelihood over this, even if he's found to be completely innocent it's still going to have a knock-on effect.

I've only read the first and last pages BUT.........it does seem like she asked for it, thought it would be cool or whatever and got home, got an earful from the folks and fabricated a story to try and play the victim and get herself off the hook.

Now.......as much as I feel sorry for the tattooist that he's probably now losing business because of this, I have only one main thought....

Why the hell would any tattooist that has an 18 yr old girl come in wanting her FACE tattooed actually do it???? Fair enough, she's an adult, but she's still only 18 and it's her face......If I were a tattooist, I'd say, well, I''ll do them, but I'll only do three stars at a time as it's on your face and you may decide you don't like it.

That way....he'd have protected himself and she wouldn't have had to be an international laughing stock! Just seems to me that that would be a sensible/responsible way for a pro tattooist to do what she wanted???

and also, how deep a sleep was she in, all those stars are perfect, she cant have moved at all in her "sleep" or turned over, or snored, or breathed heavily. if someone pokes you in your sleep, you tend to move, or make a noise or brush them away, but somehow she must have kept completely still in her sleep while a needle was being put in half her face?!

It actually depends on the artist, I know a few that dont do positioning and, freehand without the transfers, or line drawings first.

That said Iīm not saying that this was the case here, it just seems odd that it hasnīt been brought up by the artist in question as part of his defense.

Good point, I should imagine though that they were charged at a minimum price set by the studio. I cant imagine there would actually be a price difference between 3 stars and 53... but that varies from studio to studio.

You don't pay for the tattoos as such - Flash work (i.e. the designs you see posted on the walls of the shop) usually has a fixed price. For custom work it's whatever the tattooist's hourly rate is.

Why?

Its the same sort of situation, doing something stupid/something you regret, and then claiming you were too drunk to consent/wasn't fully aware of what is happening/what happened..

Happened to a mate of mine, even though it was proved she made the whole thing up, but hes still felt a knock on, same situation for the tattoist, when he gets found innocent, his reputation would still be affected/tarred.

I just don't think you can compare something like this to a girl crying rape! The tattoo artist in this case will be cleared as the whole world realises the girl is lying and I think she will eventually realise how silly she is being and admit it.

As for someone crying rape, its an ENTIRELY different situation, in many cases it goes as far as the male standing up in court as an accused before the girl finally admits it. Some men will never lose that stigma.

Cheryl, love you too!X

BUT! I understand the basics behind the comparison, ie girl doing something stupid and blaming it on someone else but I just don't think the girl crying rape comment was justified in this case.

Stupid teenage girl getting 56 stars on her face and saying that she only want 3 and making up a totally unbelievable story that she fell asleep = trivial IMHO.

Stupid teenage girl getting drunk, sleeping with a lad then crying rape = a HUGE life changing, horrible, horrible scenario.

I just don't think people should make comparisons about things on TOTALLY different scales! However, the word STUPID appears to have been taken out of context, I do not think for a minute sally is stupid.

AND, everytime someone makes a comment like such, they belittle every other female that has gotten drunk and has REALLY been raped. I am not saying that any members on this forum would for a minute be included in this but in the general public's eyes, it helps add an element of disbelief to any females story.

Rant over........for now!

I have to say I also don't agree with the comparison between tattooed stars and rape but I would say that having those stars on your face would be a 'huge life changing horrible horrible scenario'. :smt001

A girl who willingly and knowingly sleeps with someone and then cries rape, potentially landing the bloke in jail or at the very least wasting time and causing anguish to a lot of people, is quite different to a girl who got a ridiculous tattoo, then backtracked and pretended she didn't ask for it to be so big when she found out how stupid it looked and that no-one liked it.

IMO.

Thank you!

Yeah, not nice have them tattooed on your face.... IF YOU DIDNT WANT THEM! But obviously she did! Which makes it trivial...!

What's the penalty for tattooing someone without their consent? I'm fairly sure its considered assault and leaves the victim scarred for life. I'd be surprised if the maximum penalty didn't involve some jail time - therefore the comparison with a false rape allegation, is a valid one.
