Tell us about your colour coded topbox mount
arr very glad you noticed...
It's an old pillion seat stripped of the foam ( yes Tim in belgium ... Foam) and smothed down, and sprayed in engine heat silver paint.. as that was the only sliver paint I had to hand in the garage...;)
drilled 4 holes and mounted Dan's old Topbox on to it... as Dan has a BIGGER topbox...

I have a confession to make too , I bought a Kappa rack last week and mounted it last night :( , got a Givi E52 on the way for Friday as well ..... a full 52 litres top box ......... motto here , go big or go home :)
The reasoning behind this is so I can take the Badgeress to the Sonisphere festival and we can lock our lids away on the back of the bike safe and stow some kit away and enjoy ourselves without worry . I can undo the Kappa/Givi monorack with 4 bolts and it can be taken off in mere minutes and SV is back to her shexayyyyyy self again :)
Not quite as high as my one either:-

I started out with mine bolted to a pillion seat, but I left the foam there to act as a shock absorber, but then Im hardly aesthetically motivated with my bike.
I now have the SW Motech rack to give me back my pillion seat and keep the box :D
but I did prefer having it on the pillion seat, I keep thinking something is chasing me when I see my shadow now hehe :)
What make topbox is it Richie? I'm well interested as I've got a spare pillion seat :)
I feel qualified to answer this, as it was previously mine (before I got hold of a humungous Honda box for a tenner from someone my wife works with's husband).
It's an el-cheapo e-Bay topbox - I just bought the cheapest box and plate I could find - I think it was about £27 in total.

Panniers have style!
...and what you find most riders that travel using.
Style and function.
Generally speaking ...Top boxes are ...well...somewhat less than stylish...
But extremely functional if you're going to be in need of it's cargo along side the road.
Jealous of the VFR's hard cases.
I'll stick to my soft luggage for the SV.
Sorry but a Curvy is just too secsee for a topbox! :riding:

Saves me having to wear a rucksack to Scotland which takes it`s toll on an existing Spinal Injury , and when me and the Badgeress go to see Metallica in Knebworth in August we have somewhere to safely stash 2 lids and enjoy ourselves . I can remove the whole rack in 5 minutes flat with 4 bolts and put her back to normal trim .

I can understand not wanting to carry a rucksack. I'm only on the wind up. i don't carry rucksacks, I bought an Oxford one for the Hardy Bikers, and it felt like I was carrying bricks on my dodgy old shoulder.
Does it fit two lids in? I suppose its better when the Badgeress is on the back, less chance of falling off when you give it the beans ;-)

Ah mine never caught the paint but it wobbled as it needed to, the SW motech rack is ace though, neat solution and very sturdy. it mounts down into the pillion seat space and under the lid hooks so its not really going anywhere.
Next time I'm on a rideout have a looksee :) not cheap but the nicest solution IMHO
