For legal reasons I will not comment. Expect their lawyers to arrive soon with a 'cease and desist' notice.

A gold star for the person that can identify the link between Scientology and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Wait a mo, isnt it a church purely for tax reasons? And isn't their belief that they are decendants of alien reptile like creatures?

FFS, it's a whole belief system based on a book of fiction. How ridiculous.

Oh, hang on a minute......

Well said Wabbit.

Also this may amuse some of you who dont know about it...

Issac Hayes, h who did the voice for Chef on South Park quit the show because he is a Scientologist and they were gonna do a show about how nuts it is. He said he didn't want them to do it but they explained to him that he'd been fine about them taking the mick out of all the other religions so far so it was a bit hypocritical how he now had a problem.
As Matt or Trey said "he was happy taking our money and making fun of the other religions but somehow our money wasn't any good any more when it came to his stupid beliefs!
And the way they wrote Chef out of the show was simply to get under Issac's skin, if anyone remebers how that episode went. SO not U rated so dont bring it up here if you do ;)

Zig, lock this thread before we all become "Fair Game".

Then get TSM to delete it from the database.

Then destroy the HD

Oh and everyone had better change their usernames.

:)

If Scientology is a Church, the BNP is a valid Political Party that truly represents the needs and wished of modern, multicultural Britain :)

As recently as January 4, 2006, Hayes defended South Park's style of controversial humor to AV Club and XM's Opie and Anthony Show, going so far as to note that although he was not pleased with the show's depiction of Scientology, he "understand[s] what [Matt and Trey] are doing." However, on March 13, 2006, nearly two months after suffering a stroke,[23] Hayes was reported to have quit South Park over objections to the show's attitudes toward and depiction of various religions, claiming that the show had crossed the line from satire into intolerance. Despite the content of the official press release, however, there remains considerable speculation about the motivations behind his departure. Parker and Stone assert that he quit due to the controversial episode "Trapped in the Closet", and its treatment of Scientology, as Hayes was a member. Stone commented in a manner that suggested that Hayes practiced a double standard regarding the treatment of religion on South Park: "[We] never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we [lampooned] Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."[24] Fox News suggested that, because he was still suffering from the effects of his stroke, Hayes was hospitalized and not in a position to make a rational decision to leave the show.[25] Fox also reported that Hayes left the show because of the external pressure forced by his fellow Scientologists and that the decision was not voluntary, and the original press release announcing his departure was put out by someone who was not authorized to represent him.[24]

Says it may not have been so Black and White Spidey.

From what I have researched on Scientology I quite believe that someone acted "on his behalf" while he was ill.

Oh btw, if any of you are interested in seeing what they are about they have plenty of places you can go and do a multiple choice "test" and they will happily tell you how sad, bad and mad your life is and how they can help you change it.

I know cos i did one of the tests years back.

I lived in East Grinstead for 20 years, nearby to their saint hill castle 'headquarters'.
My neighbours belonged to the church. They had visitors from the USA all the time. Got fed up of the 'you are special' DVD soundtracks coming from behind the tin foiled out windows all the time.

Jack Parsons was one of the founders of JPL.
Later Jack Parsons started a boat company with L Ron Hubbard.
L Ron Hubbard is the founding father of Scientology.

In later years, Hubbard tried to distance himself from his embarrassing association with Parsons, who was a founder of a government rocket project at California Institute of Technology that later evolved into the famed Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Parsons died in 1952 when a chemical explosion ripped through his garage lab.

Still a bunch of fruitloops.

Interesting stuff guys, thanks for that. it seems if you were ever a "student" of Al Crowley you were either destined ot be one of the "greats" with possible inclusion into the halls of the illuminati...or were killed at their hands, lol.

Either way, i;m glad i never knew the guy. Not read any of his works either. Has anyone? is it worth reading?

Battlefield Earth wasn't too bad ( I read it BEFORE I knew who Hubbard was or about Scientology - I was 13 at the time I think)

Then he did Mission Earth which was the 1st 10 part (each volume about 400 pages I think) which I got up to book 7 of before I got bored (again I was about 15 then).

Now I wouldn't part with cash for anything he does.

So, should the Soho Massive venture up Tottenham Court Road and go get tested en-mass some Friday evening :)

Uncle Al used so much obfuscation in his literary work that it is difficult to peel away the layers to expose the true meaning. 'Magick in Theory and Practice' may be a straight up guide for performing occult rituals...or it may be a huge joke (and that in fact may be the lesson Uncle Al was teaching the reader).

I personally find the work of Robert Anton Wilson much more accessible. 'The Illuminatus! Trilogy' comes highly recommended.

Ooooh. So did I. I was 18 and fresh faced, living away from home from the first time at uni. It was a nice day, I had nowhere specail to be and in a good mood. Two minutes into the "chat" this nice man wanted to have with me I twigged what was going on, and I was a very gullible teenager with a sheltered upbringing so it MUST have been obvious. I had great fun stringing him along for at least half an hour before walking out without buying any of his books!!

It gets worse. I ended up sharing a flat with one. We only let him have the room if he promised not to try and recruit us which he was fine about. Got to say he was a really nice guy, just very keen on the church and all it stood for. His mates came round once a week for a bible group and I pased them on the landing once, giving me one of my funniest memories of my years at uni. One of them said to me in a half joking way as they were leaving "see in church on Sunday?" to which I said "no, I'm way beyond reach now." As one, all five of them turned to me and said "NO YOU'RE NOT!". Flat mate was so embarrased and hustled them out while I tried to stop myself laughing... Happy memories.

A member of my gf's family is a barrister, so should be accustomed to dealing with and representing low life scum (some would say hes 1 of them, not me ofcourse ;))

He has recently had the misfortune of having to represent a hardcore Scientologist client in an unpleasant case. In his years as a barrister, this person has creeped him out the most. Deceitful, conniving bigot was 1 turn of phrase he used.

And after watching the rerun of that programme on Scientology the other week i'm right there with him.

So keep a sharp eye out, the weirdos could be out there in a town near you :smt100
