Does anyone know if burka wearers have to take it off before entering petrol stations and the like? If not I think it is clear discrimination against motorcyclists! After all we are requested to remove helmets before entering, for security apparantly.

Any muslim wearing a burka would obviously not be asked to remove it. This topic has been done to death, but i have personally never been asked to remove my helmet.

nope, they don't have to take it off. Some petrol stations have a "Helmets must be removed sticker" but I ignore them and keep it on. Too much faffing to take it off etc.

not really discrimination is it, I mean if a load of criminals started dressing up as devout islamic women and robbed aload of petrol stations, then obviously there'd be a crackdown - but until now, there's only been the odd robbery involving motorcycle helmets so some of them are just being catious.

It's been discussed off the forum a lot. The AR09 route has had to be changed because of a petrol station ordering us to take off our helmets AND get off the bikes before we could fill up. This was a few weeks after agreeing that they'd be happy to have 80 or so bikes stopping there for fill up and pee. They tried to say it was Health and safety Law or something and six of us chorused back as one 'No it's not!'
It is discrimination and I do resent being wrongly labelled and stereotyped but I'm not going to make a song and dance about it. It's their forecourt so their rules.
I just won't go there again (well I'm tempted to go there again in my car, but wearing a helmet!)
