Mine are trully knackared!
I wanted to get some soonish and the MOT is due at the end of July so now is the time.
I've got Conti Road attacks, I think I like them but TBH I've never had anything else so I don't know if they are any good really. They have however been on the bike for years, so anything will be better.
My main concern is wet weather grip really because I am a massive pansie at the moment and hold up the little old lady in her blue rinse Micra every time it starts dribbling..
AND..
Does anybody know somewhere near either Selhurst or Caterham that is a good place to get them fitted?

Storm ST's, PR2's or RoadSmarts will all do the job.
Essential Rubber are just up the road from you (ok I lie, they are the other side of the river and then a bit more, but not that hard to get to from Caterham and well worth the trip) Whatever you do, DONT go to FWR.
Pilot Road 2's. Expensive but well worth it. I had RA's on before these and I must say I wouldn't get RA's again. The levels of grip and lean on PR2's are amazing IMO.
Tyres can be very much a personal preference though!

Nothing wrong with their Tyres they supply, just had a couple of stories of bad workmanship, they also take all bikes "out back" to do the work, at Essential you can watch (and learn) if you want.
Essential from you is just a case of getting North of Croydonia, round Elephant and Castle, over London Bridge, past Liverpool St, then turning left :)
Jambo pretty much does Purley to there each day as his commute.
My Roadsmarts were £225 fitted on the Zed - might be less on the SV - oh and if they comment on your brake pads or anything, I can pretty much guarantee the work needs done - I have not heard a single report of them making up work that didnt need to be done.

Can I suggest a different route? M25 to M3. M3 to J8. Follow signs to Micheldever Station. Ride out on new stuff and take the scenic route home.

You beardyfaced bully! Actually you kinda stumbled across my dilema, but not, see what I mean?!
No outside M25 is easy but as I have maybe stated on here before I am scared of riding in London. Dont know why, I just am. Hence asking for places local to work/home. Although essential sounds cool, I like to watch these things.
Also worried about riding on shiny new rubber, I've come close to stacking cars with new tyres on them because of the lack of grip so I thought it'd be easier wearing them in on roads I know..
So its Pilot Road 2's or Avon Storms? Looking through the tyres section they seem best rated (dont know why I didn't post there actually) Any difference between them?

Bridgestone BT-021s are another tyre that works well on the SV. They don't give as much wet weather grip as the Storms will but they do last forever if you do a lot of upright miles.
Also seconding the recommendation to go to Essential Rubber: they're quick, friendly and reasonably priced as well as being good at what they do.

I've ridden new Storms in the rain, and they've been pretty stable TBH. They don't appear to be like shiny new rubber should be. Although I wouldn't attempt any knee down action for a few miles;)

Shameless plug but I have this for sale:
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=133791
The matching front went with the front wheel, but it may still be available as the wheel went to a racer who will undoubtedly remove that tire. I'd be happy to ask if you like.
cheers,
-Mike

Well I am not doing anything on Saturday, so if you want someone to help you Bully your way through London traffic, to get to Essential, feel free to give me a yell, I live near Oval, but can come south to meet you and show you the way if you want.
I have never had an issue with new rubber at inner London speeds, so may be a good way to get the initial scrub done, then on your way home just stay on the A23, go to Boxhill and find an interesting route to Caterham, perhaps via Brighton :)
Give Maxxis a go very happy with the rear one that I'm trying at the mo and the're cheaper

i'd definitely plug the Avon VP2 sports  that i've got on at the moment but i've never really pushed them that much in the wet and don't think they are such an all rounder as the Avon Storm's that I had on before.
Excellent tyre in the dry tho, loads of grip and feel great. But they are more sports orientated and in 6 months of daily riding the rear is nearly without tread in the middle of the rear. They look like they'll maybe last til 7000miles, which compares well with the Storms i did 10k on. They have worn very evenly tho, despite the bulk of my commuting being m-may and town. Must be the confidence they give to give it big throttle when you do get cranked over :smt040
